editI could use some help de-escalating a situation
editI've tried to pull back and keep my comments to a minimum and not make things personal, but that doesn't work when I'm the only one doing it. Any tips on how to keep the matter of the style guide proposal from spilling any further out of control? I'm worried the matter will get tag-teamed into an artificial closure before the community has a chance to judge it on its merits. Darkfrog24 (talk) 04:35, 3 March 2019 (UTC)

Heated moment on fire article: A request
editI would like you to remove your talk page post on the "small fire" article. It includes name-calling. There's other stuff there, of course, but I picked that to mention because it's not subjective, and it would be enough by itself. I'd like to take your complaints seriously, but I don't feel I can do that if they come in that form. That post puts me in a position in which I feel I have to defend myself, or at least redirect the conversation. I do not mind if you delete this post of mine with this request. Might be better if you did. Darkfrog24 (talk) 01:26, 28 March 2019 (UTC)
- Defend yourself from what? Gryllida (talk) 02:35, 28 March 2019 (UTC)

- Defending implies denial, and no progress. Is there a better reaction? Gryllida (talk) 19:26, 28 March 2019 (UTC)
- Yes. Darkfrog24 (talk) 03:49, 28 March 2019 (UTC)

- Tell you what: nope, I won't. Yeah, about 2 hours after I posted it, I felt slightly badly about it, and sure, it's a bit uncivil. But:you're a lot of trouble to deal with...you are. So here's the deal: You want it gone? You delete it. I'm not deleting it. I said it and that's that. Furthermore, I'm not engaging in ANY direct dialog with you for the next 90 days....won't do it. How's that for 'creepy'? I will try to do minor editing to improve your pending articles, but I won't review any of your articles or engage in any discussions involving you during that time. Consider yourself ghost'ed by me for the next 90. How 'bout you just report the news for a while? That'd be nice....I'll do a bit of janitorial work for you during that time....but you and I? We're on a 'break'. --Bddpaux (talk) 04:04, 28 March 2019 (UTC)

Your criteria
editHi Bddpaux
Re:
ask yourself, "Would a school teacher in Manila care about this? What about a waiter in Sydney or a young mother in Hong Kong?" The answer should be a quick 'Yes', or you might be wasting your time here
The articles on he main page today are:
- Football: Chelsea appoints Thomas Tuchel as manager following Lampard sacking
- Football: Chelsea sacks Frank Lampard as club's manager
- World Trade Organization declares US tariff hike illegal, rules in South Korea's favour
- Explosion after gas leakage in Madrid residential building kills four
- Uruguayan Language Academy rejects FA sanction against Edinson Cavani as 'poverty of cultural and linguistic knowledge'
- Wikinews 2020: An 'Original reporting' year in review
I doubt any of those are of interest to the waiter or the mother above
Cheers, Ottawahitech (talk) 02:45, 3 February 2021 (UTC)
- @Ottawahitech: Let's keep football articles aside, because football is the most popular sport, and people in any country do care about their favourite clubs. OR year in review contains tonnes of OR, some of them are from Australia, so satisfies the waiter in Sydney. Uruguayan Language academy news is relevant to people with different language, and how a first-world organisation treats other's traditions, and customs (checks for school teacher in Manila as well as young mother in Hong Kong. Explosion article is again, relevant to the waiter, who might want to reconsider asking the restaurant to check if their cooking area complies with health and safety regulation. WTO's article seems relevant for people in the South East Asia, how their commute might be affected by this decision. Think about it.
103.48.106.16 (talk) 06:20, 3 February 2021 (UTC)- @Ottawahitech: The three that I wrote made international news. Indeed, I am not in Spain but it was in my country's news. English football is followed across the world. I don't think the comment is supposed to be taken so literally, I think the spirit of what he is trying to say is make sure people in different countries will care. --IWI (talk) 12:27, 3 February 2021 (UTC)
- Ummmmmmm, yes:exactly. But: I'm happy to see someone engaged in the project! --Bddpaux (talk) 17:39, 3 February 2021 (UTC)
- We do publish local news, the lower bound mentioned in the guidelines being the car-crash test. My understanding of writing for an international audience is that an international reader should be able to understand what the article is about and understand why the story would be of interest to some readers (beyond which it becomes a matter of personal interest or curiosity). --Pi zero (talk) 12:53, 3 February 2021 (UTC)

"A bit more time"
editWhy? Why give them extra time? --JJLiu112 (talk) 03:32, 16 June 2021 (UTC)
- "Abandoned articles — Unpublished articles that have not been edited for four days should be marked with {{subst:aband}} and deleted two days later, permitting that no other edits have been made since then. (Per common sense, removing the abandoned article template doesn't count as an edit, unless it is bundled with another change.)" See WN:ABANDON. It had been < three days when you marked it "delete".
•–• 03:41, 16 June 2021 (UTC)- Firstly: I appreciate your eagerness [no sarcasm!!]....I do! For a newbie, your output has been in the upper stratosphere and of excellent quality too! I think you RAWK! But: at the end of the day....a wiki is supposed to be about community. Now, there are ALL MANNER of goofballs, etc. who show up here and want to be thought of as a Rockstar within 15 minutes....and that doesn't work. One has to establish their 'street cred', as-it-were. So, the simple answer is: I'm extended a bit of niceness. Do I think that will turn into a publishable article? Absolutely not. But we have time (so-to-speak) to give the contributor a gentle nudge. As Acagastya points out, the rule is 4 days. If my math is right, I think you dropped in the template about 65 hours after first submission, which is a hair too quick. --Bddpaux (talk) 15:08, 16 June 2021 (UTC)

editHello. I am a Nigerian Blogger and a Journalist. I want to Update Wikinews for Nigeria. How do I go about it. I have made 4 updates already but I want to become a registered user or member. Thanks
What to do?
editCan you suggest what can I do with the omicron article? No major news is available currently for it. Shall I put it for deletion? 2006nishan178713 (talk) 17:35, 12 December 2021 (UTC)
- Well, there are a number of things you could do....you could use it as the framework for a recent article about an outbreak in some city (as one example). So I Google'd "Omicron +largest +outbreak" and got about 70 articles from the past 24 hours. Freshening up an article is a bit of an art form unto itself.--Bddpaux (talk) 21:07, 12 December 2021 (UTC)
How we will see unregistered users
editHi!
You get this message because you are an admin on a Wikimedia wiki.
When someone edits a Wikimedia wiki without being logged in today, we show their IP address. As you may already know, we will not be able to do this in the future. This is a decision by the Wikimedia Foundation Legal department, because norms and regulations for privacy online have changed.
Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin will still be able to access the IP. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on better tools to help.
If you have not seen it before, you can read more on Meta. If you want to make sure you don’t miss technical changes on the Wikimedia wikis, you can subscribe to the weekly technical newsletter.
We have two suggested ways this identity could work. We would appreciate your feedback on which way you think would work best for you and your wiki, now and in the future. You can let us know on the talk page. You can write in your language. The suggestions were posted in October and we will decide after 17 January.
Thank you. /Johan (WMF)

Temporary change to article length
editHello. I know you know this but just as a courtesy, this note is to let you know we are implementing a trial from February 1 to April 30 to encourage more articles to be published per the outcome of a current proposal. The minimum requirements for article length will be one paragraph of at least a hundred words. At the end of the trial the requirements will return to normal (3 paragraphs etc) and there will be an evaluation discussion about the trial. Happy reviewing! Justin Bieber postpones three Justice tour dates due to illness
editHi Bddpaux, I just noticed that Justin Bieber postpones three Justice tour dates due to illness, which you placed an abandoned tag on at 21:05, 13 June 2022, is now showing up in the queue for Collaboration requests in the newsroom. Is this intentional? Just curious, Ottawahitech (talk) 19:26, 14 June 2022 (UTC)
- @Ottawahitech: yes that is intentional. It happens with the Aband template and aims to encourage others to help "un-abandon" the article. [24Cr][talk] 20:04, 14 June 2022 (UTC)

Temporary change to freshness
editHello. As a reviewer, this note is just to let you know we are implementing a trial from July 4 to October 4 to enable more articles to be reviewed per the outcome of a current proposal. The freshness window is being extended to about five to seven days. At the end of the trial the window will continue to be at 5-7 days while we discuss whether to adopt the change permanently or not. Happy reviewing! [24Cr][talk] 17:39, 4 July 2022 (UTC)
Published. Nice article. [24Cr][talk] 17:08, 13 July 2022 (UTC)
I saw you asked someone else about e-mail and it became clear that it was because you are having problems using it. Are you trying to use a wikinewsie.org address? If so, I think that domain has probably lapsed. I think Acagastya took the lead in recovering data from there and setting up the newer [wn-reporters.org]. We can probably ping Acagastya if you have something to ask them. SVTCobra 19:35, 25 July 2022 (UTC)

- Well...I tried. I pushed the 'button' to put it on the front page, but nothing happened. I even asked (maybe at Water Cooler) how to go back and make that happen manually. (Do you know how?) Yeah, every once in a while, I forget to protect articles. I will watch that more carefully. I am out-of-sorts for the next several days, though.--Bddpaux (talk) 21:02, 10 August 2022 (UTC)

Your free advice
editHi Paul. On your user page you have the following quote: "Within the first 3 sentences of any article you're writing, ask yourself, "Would a school teacher in Manila care about this? What about a waiter in Sydney or a young mother in Hong Kong?" The answer should be a quick 'Yes', or you might be wasting your time here: this is an international news site. Thusly, we serve a large audience. Not too long ago, a reviewer cited this quote as a reason for declining an original article. The article had other problems, but nevertheless, it peaked my interest. You have multiple articles, especially OR, which do not meet this standard. At least, I don't think "Wikinews attends 2021 Texas Haunters Convention" would have strong appeal to a school teacher in Manila, a waiter in Sydney, or a young mother in Hong Kong.
Therefore, I appeal to you to modify or remove those sentences from your user page. I think local news should be encouraged; especially original reporting. What you say as a reviewer, administrator and bureaucrat can be very influential. Cheers, SVTCobra 00:41, 26 April 2023 (UTC)
- I agree, and: done. This business of 'Newsworthiness' has ALWAYS been bound up in some opionated fluffery, and maybe it always will be. I was (maybe clumsily) trying to convey that we have a BROAD array of peoples/cultures to whom our stuff should appeal (hopefully). VERY local things can absolutely appeal to many people -- and should always be encouraged here. To put a not-so-fine point on it: Right now, we just need good news being submitted by good reporters. Also: see the disclaimer I added to my page.--Bddpaux (talk) 14:33, 26 April 2023 (UTC)
Heavy Water
editHi Paul. You wrote to Heavy Water: I'm fairly certain you may be the very first person (at least in a decade) around here to receive accreditation out-of-order. So, you've been a Reviewer for a bit now, and I just made you an Accredited Reporter. Go forth and do good deeds!
What exactly did you do besides add {{archive top}} to the AR? See the diff. You even left the status as "open".
How exactly did you 'make' Heavy Water an accredited reporter? Did you verify their identity and real name and set up an email account on wn-reporters.org as per Wikinews:Accreditation policy?
Being accredited is not a wiki permission and does not show up in user groups or user rights logs. Also, I thought we discussed this notion of 'out of order'. There is no order. Accredited is not part of a hierarchy of user rights. Reviewer → Administrator → Bureaucrat → Checkuser is the only order I know of. Accredited is entirely outside of this system. And, indeed, at least one user has achieved all of those levels within the last decade without ever being accredited. Cheers, SVTCobra 11:13, 2 May 2023 (UTC)
- Well. Yeah. OK. It'd been a while since I've done any of these actions, so I'm a bit rusty -- most especially on setting up the email. So, to that point: how is the email set up? --Bddpaux (talk) 14:28, 2 May 2023 (UTC)

Hi, I think that you may have forgotten to complete the review after adding the "Under review" tag. I understand that you might be busy in real life, and I apologize for disturbing you. However, could you please mark the article as "pass" or "fail," or perhaps remove the "under review" tag? I think there is a possibility that the story might become stale. Thank you for your consideration. Regards, --Asked42 (talk) 20:02, 10 July 2023 (UTC)
A Hope!
editHey! I hope this will just be a short wikibreak and not a retirement. Wikinews truly needs your expertise and contributions, just like Heavy Water. It would be wonderful to see everyone working together. I believe a patch-up is on the horizon! Also, I wanted to express my gratitude for all the help you've provided throughout my Wikinews journey. I look forward to crossing paths with you again in the future. Take care and see you soon! Asked42 (talk) 22:45, 12 July 2023 (UTC)

Requesting a review
editHi @Bddpaux, I see you are the third-most active reviewer left here. I was wondering if you could review my article here, or if not, if you could approve Asheiou's RfP here so that they can become a reviewer and help with it. It took me a while to write, so I am trying to at least get it reviewed before it goes stale and gets deleted. I greatly appreciate you volunteering time, and I would love to pay it forward by helping with the review backlog myself once I am more experienced. Thank you, --Habst (talk) 01:03, 21 February 2024 (UTC)
- @Bddpaux, I wanted to ping you again as I have Gatwicked the article into a new form here: World Athletics Indoor Championships concludes in Glasgow with new world records and significant wins. I fear that this might be its last chance to get reviewed and published, so I'd really appreciate your help. I noticed there have been no new articles published since January 4th, so I think there is an inactivity problem that needs to be addressed. Thank you and with respect, --Habst (talk) 14:29, 5 March 2024 (UTC)

I have reverted all moves without redirecting (please note that I can use suppress-redirect as part of global rollback permissions, and this anti-vandalism usage is allowed per Wikinews:Global_permissions#Global_rollbackers), but since I have no further permissions, I cannot revert page moves with extra history. I also request indefinite move protections for all recently targeted pages (including User:BigKrow, User talk:BigKrow, User talk:MathXplore, Wikinews:Sandbox, Wikinews talk:Sandbox, Wikinews:Pillars of writing, and Wikinews talk:Pillars of writing). Isn't This Stale
editYou recently published Citizen journalist, Viktor Pinchuk — gives travel presentation in Sevastapol even though the event happened on April 22. That is 4 weeks ago and seems stale to me. Me Da Wikipedian (talk) 20:51, 20 May 2024 (UTC)
- It was/is stale. However: this user submits both here and at Russian WN -- based upon his high quality pictorials, we tend to give him a pinch of breathing room, but I probably won't stretch it (time-wise) this far again.--Bddpaux (talk) 15:22, 24 May 2024 (UTC)
- Just saying, but all these things are kind of bordering on promotion. 18 articles on someone not notable enough to be mentioned anywhere else. 18 articles on a writer Russian Wikinews attends a lot? Including 4 in 4 days. I think if anything we need to crack down on how many of these we have, not give double time for something hardly notable. How is it that something like my Biden article, covered much more in media than this, is given half time before considered stale. I know you said not to strecth it, but we need to some way to avoid 80% of the frontpage being filled up with this. Seriously, this is insane.@Bddpaux Me Da Wikipedian (talk) 15:31, 26 May 2024 (UTC)
- Never mind, make that quadrule time. Me Da Wikipedian (talk) 15:54, 26 May 2024 (UTC)
- Original reporting gets significant leeway with freshness. Notability — particularly of a person involved rather than the focal event — as assessed by "anywhere else" is irrelevant to newsworthiness. That said, I've never been really comfortable with the conflict of interest present, but I allowed it because other people much more experienced than me had, repeatedly. I haven't passed any of these articles since December for that reason. It's good that we're having a conversation about it. Heavy Water (talk) 19:51, 26 May 2024 (UTC)
- I know nothing prohibits it, but I feel we need to. Imagine if something like the New York Times, BBC, or the Guardian has 80% of it's front page covered in a very specific and not that notable author. At a minimum, I think we need to have something that no more than 1 very similar article can be on the front page at once.@Heavy Water. Beside, giving it a month while still considered news, is a bit too much. Ever seen a newspapers frontpage with month old news? Me Da Wikipedian (talk) 22:31, 26 May 2024 (UTC)
- @Heavy Water I've been confused about this for a while too, especially because this article seems to imply Sevastopol is in Russia, which is... not in accord with international recognition. I've never mentioned anything about it because I fervently do not like to start anything. A.S. Thawley (talk) (calendar) 21:42, 3 June 2024 (UTC)

- @Heavy Water @Me Da Wikipedian @Asheiou I'm tired and busy with work, but if memory serves, I recently communicated to Viktor that I/we are largely hitting the STOP BUTTON on most of these. His pictorials are (admittedly) fantastic, and the "hobo tourism" conceit is quite clever -- but the whole spider's nest forms a massive network of COI, Navel gazing and puffery. To give him some credit, he did take (marginal) action recently to (after prompting) re-focus the article on the presentation event itself. I would feel (maybe) more comfortable if he WAS NOT the reporter at RN Wikinews, reporting on an event, where he is giving a talk he gave, covering a trip he took and etc. etc. etc. Get my point? I've (maybe clumsily) tried to draw the line with him. He (and this isn't an insult) tends to try to stack up outside sources (which isn't a crime!) -- but I often can't pull them up and source material has to properly be glued into the story, as well. Am I making sense here? 9 sources does not automatically make a story "better sourced" than one with 2 sources.--Bddpaux (talk) 22:04, 3 June 2024 (UTC)
- That sounds great. Asheiou: Our treatment of disputed regions is something I've been wanting us to discuss for a while. I see that he refers to himself as Russian; I've always allowed him to, since he's probably got both Russian and Ukrainian citizenship, and he seems to identify as Russian (also, that's probably his ethnicity). I think we definitely shouldn't allow articles to say "Sevastapol, Russia", however, as this does. Heavy Water (talk) 03:47, 4 June 2024 (UTC)
- The issue with disputed regions is that what level of recognition do we require to call a region part of one country or another? I'd, for one, not call Kosovo Serbia, despite the fact that it's very disputed. "Sevastopol, Russia" is just flagrant, though. @Heavy Water A.S. Thawley (talk) (calendar) 13:07, 4 June 2024 (UTC)

Help with review
editHi
(I am messaging all reviewers)
Hope you are doing well.
Here are submitted for peer review:
- Photo exhibition “Ethnic features of the world people” took place in the Crimean capital
- On the campaign trail in the USA, June 2024
- "Machu Picchu, and not only...", a new photo exhibition by Viktor Pinchuk was held in Crimea
Could you please review? Even a little edit or just one review would help a lot. (I don't require a commitment to review every day from now on.)
Would you like to get notified of new drafts submitted for review? If so, please tell me which topics (or any topic) and where (email, wiki messages, push notification on smart phone, notification in wiki Notifications, or somewhere else).
Would you find a WN:RNA page for reviewers useful, it would be similar to WN:AAA but intended for reviewers to discuss reviewing and related software.
Would you be interested other communications off-wiki to create audio or video contact with other reviewers? I think this online gathering could be an essential part to deduce how to make article authoring and review easier. It could be just 30 minutes a month, and you don't have to participate every time. I would write a meeting minutes note after each session and publish it on-wiki if desired.
Thanks!

I am interested to know what could be done better about the second to last paragraph too, when you have a moment (it is low urgency, it can be a week or two later) please follow up. Many thanks for the review! :-) Gryllida (talk) 02:09, 31 August 2024 (UTC)
- Could you please advise what are your favourite news topics or a next recent event you found interesting? I'd like to write something together again, if you wouldn't mind and if you're available. Thank you in advance! Gryllida (talk) 01:32, 4 September 2024 (UTC)

Can you please confirm whether this is an alternate account of yours? The account has redirected their user and talk pages to yours and requested the removal of your admin and reviewer privs on the grounds of retirement from the project. I'll ask at the request pages for action not to be taken until you give indication either way. Heavy Water (talk) 19:54, 12 September 2024 (UTC)
- That is absolutely NOT me. Gryllida has blocked that user. We may need to get a CU involved. —-Bddpaux (talk) 03:22, 13 September 2024 (UTC)
- I had asked gry to message you about it -- and after receiving the confirmation, I have blocked the imposter. I also CU'd the user, and @Me Da Wikipedian: has been caught and blocked for the same. •–• 03:48, 13 September 2024 (UTC)

Notifications
editHi Bddpaux
Could you please review something in the next two days or so? The review queue is a bit too long. I appear to be unable to handle it alone.
Do you read wiki notifications? I posted a message at water cooler and @mentioned your nick - do you get such messages or would you prefer that I post on your talk page?
What is the best way to notify you of the updates to the review queue, so that you don't miss it? I can send you talk page messages or emails.
There is a Subscribe button at the top right of the Wikinews:Water cooler/assistance page. If Notifications are readable for you, could you please click it? Then you will be notified of each new added section at that page. (It would help me a lot, as this is the place where I ask for help with my reviewing.)
Thank you! Gryllida (talk) 19:57, 21 September 2024 (UTC)
- Do you use : discord, whatsapp, viber, telegram, irc, jitsi, sip, something else. I would like to connect as complementary to on-wiki work. My contacts are listed on my user page. Thanks! Gryllida (talk) 23:37, 5 December 2024 (UTC)
- Generally speaking, I just like to be contacted here at my Talk page, but I do respond to standard email sometimes.--Bddpaux (talk) 15:18, 6 December 2024 (UTC)

inline citations
editare not used in published articles, only in drafts and during review process, and only because @Michael.C.Wright finds them useful. (I delete them on first sight, if I'm the one doing an edit or a review, and replace with a 'BBC said that...' if information came only from one source...) Gryllida (talk) 07:39, 14 December 2024 (UTC)
- I'm not sure why I'm mentioned here or why this conversation was started, but since I was mentioned and pinged, I will clarify what I find useful; either hidden HTML comments or {{verify}} and I prefer we all (especially authors) start using {{verify}}. I do not find traditional, wikipedia-style in-line references useful, but if an author uses them effectively, I find them better than nothing.
- I agree that if the author writes 'BBC said that...', we know where they sourced that information. However, we still need to verify information that the author has not attributed through prose. In those cases, in-line citations make it much easier and quicker for the reviewer.
- I created {{verify}} in an attempt to improve the review process[4] for all reviewers and authors. —Michael.C.Wright (Talk/Published) 14:40, 14 December 2024 (UTC)
- I would also mention that if authors are required to use {{verify}}, it could ingrain the habit of sourcing all statements and possibly eliminate the problem of unsourced statements. —Michael.C.Wright (Talk/Published) 14:50, 14 December 2024 (UTC)
Thank you

Lead shuffle
editI can do the lead shuffle for you for Passenger plane collides with military helicopter near Washington, D.C. if you'd like. I don't mind and have a process that is relatively quick/easy for me at the moment.
It looks like the widget is close to getting put into production[5], but not quite ready yet. —Michael.C.Wright (Talk/Reviewer) 16:34, 31 January 2025 (UTC)
Could you please take a look at this article? It has been three days and it has still not been reviewed. CheatCodes4ever (talk) 11:08, 7 February 2025 (UTC)

Subscription
editHi, :-)
I just wanted to check whether you see a "unsubscribe" button on each of the water coolers linked at Wikinews:Water cooler (I think there are about 5 subpages)?
If it's not there, please consider clicking "subscribe"??
And ensuring you either login to the wiki at least once daily, or have the notifications delivered to wmail which is checked at least daily. (replace "daily" with some indication of a regular check that is convenient to you)
If you can only subscribe to one Water cooler, please subscribe to the "assistance" one.
Please let me know how this goes, it would be greatly appreciated. :-)
Regards, Gryllida (talk) 18:23, 27 February 2025 (UTC)

Re: revitalising Wikinews
editHi, I'm reaching out to you as you indicated support for revitalising Wikinews. Here are a few ways to help out, in no particular order:
- write new articles by style guide and content guide
- find news which happened today and share it on live chat or a news tip page
- read drafts in Newsroom, especially those submitted for review, and edit them to make them more comprehensive or more current
- read drafts in Newsroom, especially those that failed review recently, and address reviewer's comments quickly and re-submit for review
- chat with new authors (of articles in Newsroom) and help them understand the key concepts
- subscribe at Wikinews:Water cooler (there are 5 subforums, open each and click 'Subscribe' link at top - then keep a close eye on your Echo notifications) to help newcomers and help with editing articles when someone requests assistance
- chat on live chat and help newcomers and reviewers with their review process
- help with software development for authoring or reviewing articles, perhaps for the mobile platforms
- chat with other contributors on audio or video chat
- present notes about how Wikinews works at various conferences via audio and video communucations [as we don't have funds for travel at present] this can be linux, programming, journalistical, or wikimedia themed conferences
- figure out how to get someone to do any of the above through a grant, sometimes google summer of code
- find high school and university educators who would like to teach their class journalism by asking them to write articles for Wikinews (was done with in the past, and we have extension installed for marking students)
- collaborate with Pharos on getting more news coverage of the New York City and adjacent areas
- proofread, or read, Wikinews articles out loud for Audio Wikinews
- make English Wikinews accounts on various social media like twitter, facebook, blue sky app (sp?), others [in consultation with someone on-wiki first] ensuring you're posting new news articles there with appropriate tags, moderate comments, and setup multiple moderators if possible and document which contributor is in charge of which social network account for Wikinews and how articles are being posted there
Please let me know which of these points you're most comfortable with, and/or would like to learn.
Which points would you like to contribute? Please name up to 3-5 points, if you like. Or suggest your own. :-)
I'm happy to connect with you and guide you in any of the above areas.
Regards, Gryllida (talk) 22:54, 16 March 2025 (UTC)
- I've given careful thought to this. To pivot in a 'new' direction --- number 9, for sure! I view myself (sorry for the Army metaphor) as sort of a Staff Sargeant around here. I write news. I review articles. I do (Administrator) clean-up stuff [and maybe not as aggressively as I could, at times]. I just like to keep us moving as a News site.--Bddpaux (talk) 20:25, 18 March 2025 (UTC)
- I praise this! BigKrow (talk) 15:55, 26 March 2025 (UTC)
