Stock Market

Its interesting that barely any stories about this stock market plummet are being written. It's been in CNN continuously as well as the front page of several large news papers for 4 or 5 days running. It's implications about the power of the Chinese economy on Western markets is huge. I've been writing about it on Wikipedia, but mainly on Canadian coverage. w:Portal:Current events/Canada. Mkdw 23:41, 2 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Why does it Matter?

Why does it matter. That doesn't change anything. Your making it sound like the Iraqi military is the only one saying it. And if you look here [1] it says it is the Multi-National force press information centre.

But that source talks about the killing of US military personnel, not general Bagdhad violence. --SVTCobra 00:14, 15 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
Oh, and please sign you comments. --SVTCobra 00:14, 15 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Dude you need to calm down

You take this way too seriously, they are all talking about the same general thing. Maybe the kuwatii source got it right saying they were all the multi national force and the other two were wrong becaus eit was just some iraqi general saying it. The 13TH 4POSTLE

Baghdad casualties

thanks for catching that difference b/w the IBC and Iraqi official toll, that was a big miss on my part. it'd be great if we can find a n independent toll for the Baghdad area. –Doldrums(talk) 09:25, 15 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

i did in fact sift through the IBC daabase and weekly reports for Baghdad casualties. u can see details on the article talk page. so you won't find "393" in the source. IBC is not described in the article as either neutral or independent. article makes it clear they work from media reports. there's nothing in the article that makes it seem IBC is more or less accurate from other sources.
am not particularly swayed by the arguments about IBC's methodology, possible bias, expertise and reliability of their sources, the same arguments can be made for the official Iraqi source as well.
i took a quick glance at the sources listed for the casualties i've tallied, i see only mainstream news sources. does IBC use the sources that you are not particularly happy about for any of the incidents i have tallied? and do you have any reason to doubt those sources for those particular reports? –Doldrums(talk) 17:51, 15 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
no probs. it's good to vet each other's work. that's how an important mistake such as my original Baghdad vrs. all-Iraq tally get caught. i saw ur 183 tally and took another look at the database, came up with 200 again. VOI is Voices of Iraq and Al-Shar is Al Sharqiyah TV, according to the key to the sources.
incidentally, [2] is an excellent source for more background, though it doesn't appear to have Baghdad specific data for the time-period we're interested in. best–Doldrums(talk) 20:23, 15 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Unproposed article headline

"This is a guideline for proposing an article. ...--SVTCobra" I did see that page, and quickly determined that I did not have time to propose an article. I was getting ready to depart when I saw on the main page an alternative as follows:

"Start a new article ... To report on a news event, check if it is already being covered. If not, write a quick brief or enter a good headline below to start a full article."

I entered the headline as it says. Now, if that's wrong, and just entering a headline isn't welcome, then the main page needs to be clarified to reflect actual policy. Milo 01:14, 23 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Mobile phone use.

No need to be as formal as to call me Mr McNeil. :) I'm going to take a look, last I saw the article didn't clearly say there was an outright ban - and I did read a couple of the sources. --Brian McNeil / talk 18:52, 3 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

The inserted comment by you was apparently Ed, he has an odd sense of what is appropriate, and - you know - if you were one of our accredited reporters it would have got past everyone. Original Research is allowed here, and that means you can propose a conclusion based on sources you find. Your comment merited adding to the story, but it needs correctly attributed. We can do "Wikinews contributor, Joe Bloggs concluded that report Foo suggested that activity Bar did not increase incidence of Fuzz". As long as it is a conclusion someone else could trivially come to from the sources you can do it. In this case I suspect you did. --Brian McNeil / talk 19:05, 3 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
Ed does not have an odd sense of what is appropriate, he fully appreciates it. The odd sense Ed has is what is possible, therefore he does it for sake of experience. Yeah, deeper research could have done, so take away my accreditation, or check whether the community is mindful. I think the ball is in your court on this mobile phone story. If you don't grab it, maybe I will. -Edbrown05 19:25, 3 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
speaking from the hip, quoting authoritative sources on stuff like what the law says is better than quoting a Wikinews editor on what she understands the law says (unless of course, she happens to be an authoritative source on law to begin with). for things that can be easily verified, i don't think we shld be substituting original research. –Doldrums(talk) 19:29, 3 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Sorry...

You just pointed out that I was wrong when I renamed Ahmadinejad pardons British navy personnel to Ahmadinejad to free British navy personnel. Sorry. I'm assuming your online now, so if it seems appropriate rename it back to pardon. I literally just created a Wikinews account to do that (I mainly edit on w:Wikipedia). Once again, sorry. --Jatkins 14:27, 4 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

No problem. And since Iran accused them of espionage I think pardon may be a good legal term to use. The is nothing wrong with using free in the headline either. I just felt it was unnecessary to make a change. --SVTCobra 14:36, 4 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
We cannot use Pardon unless sources can be attributed to him saying that in quotations. If he did not physically say pardon then we cannot use the word as it implies that the troops did something wrong. DragonFire1024 21:15, 4 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

re:Pakistan army involved in NWFP battles

It is my usual habit to respond to messages first when coming "on-wiki", and then looking later. I do see what you mean after glancing at what you point out in Shorts. I was unaware, until now, of the South Waziristan developments reported there.

I missed a few strides last week in my usual wiki involvement. Then every Wednesday and Thursday are always my "hell" days in what I do for a living... so I am not ususally very involved here at Wikinews then. Sorry I missed it, because the PAK army involvement does relate to the Hakeem interview. I'll be looking at it now. Best regards. -Edbrown05 07:47, 13 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Use of {{QuoteLeft}}

QuoteLeft is intended to be used to highlight a section that is in the article, so can you work the quote into the article? Yes, it may seem like duplication but that's the idea, you have a decoration that intrigues and encourages the article to be read. --Brian McNeil / talk 20:31, 14 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Informative story names

Hi. Sorry for mixing up football and baseball. When I see a meaningless story title, I try to improve it. To avoid having the story title improved by someone clueless like me, just use a story title that can be understood by those in Canada, the USA, Ireland, England, India, the Philippines, Australia, and New Zealand. A question about your edit to the story on the Supreme Court overturning the stay on the Partial Birth Abortion ban

I had put in a link to the Supreme Court web page that had the link to the full decision on this case, which I read to use as a source. So I'm wondering if it is considered the norm on WikiNews that the Cornell website is considered to be "more" difinitive of a source than the Supreme Court's own files?

No I didn't check... archiving is not a perfect process, apparently.--Steven Fruitsmaak (Reply) 08:28, 20 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Dear Cobra,

In order to clarify what I have previously said, my mum's work did not buy the rights from MSNBC, ABC or NBC. They bought the rights to use the story from reuters to use the story. This is not the same as buying a story to read. This means they are part of a syndicate where reuters will be paid for writing stories which other members of the media who pay a subscriptioin can use. My mum's work, pays reuters to be able to redistribute, republish, and use in any way they deem neccesary. This means, if they would like to publish it on their site (the same as MSNBC in the US) they can. That is what I am doing. I am publishing the stories on wikinews.

Since then, I have also been notified that all news stories, are licenced under Creative Commmons. It is this which has persuaded me to retract my previous contributions - I no longer am publishing these stories. On the grounds I was working off at the time, (not considering CC) I stand by what I said. Thanks —Symode09 16:09, 20 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

NO, the agreement allows the stories to be used in any way whatsoeverSymode09 18:04, 20 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

It is pretty obious you can't resell it! Reuters would go out of business but, you can distribute it to whoever you want! I'll try to get a copy of the licence or the webling so you may read it. BTW, where do you work to get reuters channel 3.3 - my mum's work doesn't get channels. Symode09 08:05, 21 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

PFA

Hey there, you left a note on the article Football: Cristiano Ronaldo takes home both PFA awards asking about what the PFA is. The PFA stands for the Professional Footballers' Association. The awards are voted for by the player for the players. There is also a PFA voted on by the fans. I think i should add this into the article, possibly as a second paragraph to give that information. Also, Ronaldo has now won the fans PFA as well.—Dark_Squall 18:44, 25 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Tanker truck fire causes collapse on Oakland Freeway

Specifically this rather curtly commented revert: [3]. Help me out here. It doesn't violate Wikipedia cite rules (it's unlikely that someone is going to challenge it) and I don't see something so egregious about the addition that requires a complete removal. - Richfife 20:59, 7 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

I am sorry if you felt I was being curt with you. Wikinews articles are not to updated continually. Once an article is 24 hours old, nothing should really be added to it. If you want to update what is going on with the collapsed freeway you should write a new article or a short on the subject. I guess WN:SG doesn't address it specifically, but you can find the relevant policy here: What Wikinews articles are not item 5. --SVTCobra 21:15, 7 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

The slash in titles

The "/" character should be avoided in article titles, it is treated as a delimiter so Foo/Bar is a sub-page of Foo. This is one of those techie details you'll pick up as you go along. Dispute of Mid-Con story.

Hello. I want to thank you for taking an interest in regard to accuracy on Wikinews - helpful eyes are always appreciated. But, I was wondering about your actions regarding a placement of a dispute tag on the Mid-Con story May 9, which was sourced by the way. (Although it could have been improved and clarified, as most WN articles could be improved and clarified.) As you probably know, in doing so, you unpublished the article - making it unavailable to the general readership and various news feeds. Fair enough as long as your concerns are well-meaning and in the spirit of cooperative journalism. But after doing so, you failed to notify the original and only writer (me) of your actions or your concerns on the appropriate user talk page. This drastically lowers the chances that your concerns will be addressed and effectively kills a story. A note on a user talk page is perhaps the most effective way to get a time sensitive issue addressed in wiki since it alerts that user immediately that another WN contributor is asking him or her to address an issue. - -- Davodd | Talk 03:31, 10 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Re; Sivaji: The Boss

I am not involved with the production or marketing of the film. I am just one of Rajinikanths die hard fans. I have never met Rajinikanth even though I have tried on every visit to Tamil Nadu, India. If I had known of WikiNews earlier I would have made articles on the political oppositions to this movie. But I guess there will be a lot after its release of 31 May. So far there has been one murder and multiple politicians trying to make the movie look bad. In 2000, Dr Ramadas ordered his men to burn down 20 cinemas because they were showing Rajinikanth's Baba film. All my hopes and that of millions of his fans are that his film goes well. The ceremonies in preparation of his film are starting soon. A Rajinikanth film is like the largest festival for us. ~~ Vagish [wp] [wn] 17:23, 13 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

No, I did not say that you should not be writing about this movie. But please, do so only if there is something newsworthy. If the release-date is changed by a few days ... that doesn't sound important to me. If the government banned the movie ... then that would truly be news-worthy.

For many people in Tamil Nadu they save all the way through the year JUST to see this film. They don't watch the film, they live it. If you had disrespected Rajinikanth in Tamil Nadu they might have beaten you up, heck even I would. Rajinikanth is thought of as the SUPERSTAR. He is everyones dream. Before the 31st of May lots of people will be going to the temple and doing poojas (religous thing) just for his film to be a success. If Rajinikanth died tommmorow 1000s of people would suicide. Rajinikanth has the largest fanbase in all of India. ~~ Vagish [wp] [wn] 20:37, 14 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
I am only thinking of writing articles (now, after talking to people) like on its release, preview and any hitches it hits on the way (like political problems). Also can I use my wikinews articles as a reference on wikipedia? And for normal films can I write an article about each film when it gets launched (starting filming), any hitches it hits, and when it gets released and one article to sum up the whole film like 100 or 200 days after release (that should be 3 articles per normal film, since it is unlikely for a NON-Rajinikanth film to hit any hitches.)? ~~ Vagish [wp] [wn] 06:21, 15 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi Davodd. I am sorry, I guess that I could have notified you directly on your talk page. Most people watch the articles they create, so writing on the article's talk page is usually enough to get their attention. When I raised my sourcing concerns, I had read the source, but didn't realize I had to watch the video. I also waited nearly eight hours before putting the tag on the article. Lastly, while putting the tag on the article does un-publish the article, it does show up in the newsroom as needing attention. --SVTCobra 09:43, 10 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Not that they are comparable since more than one writer worked on them - and you must admit that looking at the history that the article was not up to Wikinews quality snuff. But, I do believe I did pitch in and help fix the errors and the article was, indeed published. In all, I think we all learned a lot from the process of writing that article.- -- Davodd | Talk 02:29, 18 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
Yes, I did learn a lot from that article (you didn't have to be so gracious as to say that you learned from it, too). It was one of my earliest contributions, and I remember the frustration that it kept getting un-published (I wish I could say they were fond memories). I think I have come a long way, and now know how to write an article in way that rarely gets disputed. I think I can properly credit you for some of that development in my writing. On that note, I am sorry that I tagged your article for unsourced statements. As I have mentioned, it came from overlooking the video link. BTW, I noticed in your user page that you are from Indiana, did you attend a school in the Mid-Con (now Summit League)? Hi. Thank you for the kind advice on how to use the merge template. It just came to my mind that we have a guideline here:Wikinews:Template messages/Disputes. Your 'SiCKO' edits

Hi SVT,

Thanks for your help on the SiCKO article, but I think you might be mistaken on a couple of your edits.

I am meticulous that everything I write is accurate, and sourced.

The claim of all 43 sneak previews being sold out is in from the Fox article, where many of the facts are sourced from.

"The documentary about the health care industry was sold out at all its "sneak" screenings in 43 locations around the country including Cleveland, Boston, Atlanta, and Detroit."

The claim about it doubling expectations is from this Yahoo article:

Link

"The weekend grosses more than doubled the projected box office revenues projected by NRG."

NRG is part of Nielsen. Maybe I should have put 'by NRG, a division of Nielsen'

I hope it's OK to restore these fully sourced facts to the article. Please let me know. Thanks Emperor NortonXXIII 21:27, 3 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

I also made a suggestion on the 'Biden - commutation' article. Emperor NortonXXIII 21:37, 3 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
Got your message. I thought that the 'double the estimate' was in one of the sources I used when I wrote it into the article, but apparently it wasn't. I'm not sure I agree that its problematic to add in a source to back a claim that I thought was already sourced when I - in good faith - wrote the 'double the estimate' part into the article - but I will defer to your decision. Emperor NortonXXIII 23:16, 3 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
Well.... if the 'double the estimate' claim is only sourced to Weinstien, as it appears to be, it probably shouldn't be in the article. No worries. Emperor NortonXXIII 00:56, 4 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Wikinews and the New Media Alliance

Wikinews articles appearing on 'Mens News Daily' is cause for concern. Mens News Daily is part of the infamous 'New Media Alliance' Spamdexing Spin Network. I understand the nature of Wikinews and CCBY2.5 well. My point is that someone having ulterior motives could put slanted, questionable, or entirely bogus 'news' on Wikinews, and it could then appear all over the 'New Media Network', before it gets vetted, corrected, or even noticed. Didn't the Biden article with a questionable claim 'appear' on Mens Daily with THREE HOURS of it being posted on Wikinews? Do you not find that 'odd'? Emperor NortonXXIII 06:14, 4 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
No, they can pick it up as soon as we put the "publish" tag on the story. It is our fault for not verifying the sources before we published. It turns out that the story was fine it was just a sloppy editor that put the sources section together. --SVTCobra 12:37, 4 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

New 'Pedia articles on old news

I didn't think it was a problem to add cross-project links in at a later date; I thought that fell under the kind of things you might normally contact an admin to do for you on an archived story. In particular, Slovak transport plane crashes over Hungary recently had a link added to w:2006 Slovak Air Force Antonov An-24 crash, despite a huge difference in creation times. So either your revert or that adition was wrong, and don't ask me to sort out which one! Blood Red Sandman (Talk) (Contribs) 11:38, 6 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Certainly a valid point. I will ask Doldrums and see if there is a policy or longstanding precendent. I'll get back to you on this. --SVTCobra 22:13, 6 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
the idea is that stuff like categories, templates (archived, released PD), interwiki and interlang links and by extension, links to WP articles are considered "non-content" additions to an article (i.e. readers won't construe them to be statements of fact reported as news. ). so we can make changes to these things after publication. the fact that the WP article did not exist prior to publication doesn't really matter much in our scheme of things - we are not promising our readers that the WP links we provide are to article versions at the time of publication. this i think is the prevailing practice, from what i know, this is not set in stone in policy, so feel free to discuss on cooler if you think it needs wider input. best, –Doldrums(talk) 06:14, 7 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Still the beaches

Hi, I am really having problems in getting a npov article since there is almost no feedback from the people who now "own" the administration of the beaches, nor the city authorities give information. It could become a case for the judge if it goes ahead like this. For now I could only write what has happened on that evening ... but still: it would be quite one sided, like the first article. I hope the one about the computer game I posted today is somewhat easier to deal with. Ciao from Italy! --SabineCretella 17:43, 15 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

From the Editors

Welcome to the latest edition of the Wikinews Bulletin! This week, you may have noticed a slight change in the design. This was because I felt that as a different project, Wikinews should not copy the Wikipedia Signpost. If you disagree, be bold and make your opinion known on the talk page.

IRC Discussion
  • This fortnight, not much happened on IRC. There was a debate among DragonFire1024 and Wikimedia Foundaton intern Mike H., but that was about it.
Wikimedia News (From Meta)
  • The Polish Wikipedia on DVD has finally been released and is available for purchase in shops in Poland as well as online. The release contains 239 000 articles, 59 000 images and the dedicated Java software WikiMiner. The DVD costs 39 PLN (~ 10 EUR, $14). Soon the 8 GB image of the DVD will be available for download as well.

So fix it. :) I'm no good at this. irid:t 02:38, 14 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Do you have any thoughts on how I could improve the article? I admit that I may have made a mistake in confusing Sweden and Switzerland (being a stupid American); can you show me my mistake so I can correct it? Or correct it yourself? irid:t 02:52, 14 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
I see. It's in German? everything2 seems to think that .ch domains are owned by Switzerland. I really apologize for the confusion. irid:t 02:54, 14 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, seeing now that the dominant language in Switzerland is indeed German. Whoops. I was trying to be bold, but it was more typeface than content, eh? Really sorry. irid:t 02:58, 14 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hiroyasu Tomaru, a man of all seasons

I'm wondering if you can take a look at this; either this guy is extremely misguided, or he's being a pseudo-vandal by creating nonsense. See:

I can't find anything on this mythical place, and I highly suspect that he is making things up. Though I could be wrong! irid:t 02:52, 18 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

And quite a break it has turned out to be... :)
No, you only looked at the article after I made the connection between "Oze" and the actual name of the place. Googling "Oze" came up with vague results and I didn't know how to make heads or tails of it.
Well after getting the google hits for the full name of the place, I hope you can move forward. --SVTCobra 03:37, 18 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
I'll try. I don't see how the event is topical/newsworthy/current, etc. Given that he's created weird nonsense articles so far.... eh, I'll stop. Go on your break. :) irid:t 03:39, 18 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
I don't either, but at least the place isn't mythical. But I am definitely OUT now. Maybe, if I have some down-time, I'll check on the status of things, but don't count on it. --SVTCobra 04:04, 18 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
I see you editing on here every night; I figured I'd take a chance and ask for your opinion. irid:t 03:31, 18 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
Yes, most nights, I check in to read the news. I am supposed spend my time more wisely. I was on a 72 hr streak until tonite (if you'll forgive a vote on a WN:RFA. --SVTCobra 03:37, 18 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Site activity
  • Wikinews is approaching 10'000 articles. Spread the word!
  • A Wikinews:World News Quiz has been set up after the Quiz extension was added to our MediaWiki repertoire. Users who take the quiz are invited to post their scores on the talk page.
  • Substantial changes have been made to the main page recently. TheFearow has implemented a dynamic news ticker - see Wikinews:Ticker for information and the template at Template:Ticker. Currently only available for almost every browser that isn't IE. IlyaHaykinson added the Template:Lead article with large image to the main page, which is currently the subject of a poll. A complete main page redesign is also being discussed.
  • User:Cspurrier has kicked off an ongoing mailing list discussion on the topic of setting up some kind of official organisation to issue press cards and support our off-site activities, like a Wikinews Chapter.
IRC activity
  • Some of the IRC topics include slow server activity, tinyurl's, the nearing of the 10'000th article on Wikinews, ... (add more here if you know more...)

Thai Tourism Minister Applauds The Chiang Mai Charity Calendar

Hi there - Sorry to appear such a complete novice but cannot find a way to resolve the "Bring into compliance with WN:SG" for this as I am not sure where the problem lies - the previous article? Grateful for advice - Best regards Chowringhee 03:20, 10 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Well, no, it is not just the previous article link. The sources should be organized and styled as per WN:SG. This section of the Guide is pretty straight-forward and you should easily be able to follow it. Further, if you claim original reporting (WN:OR), you must provide detailed notes on the collaboration page about your journalistic venture. Last, I would say that the article is so complimentary to Dr. Suvit that it may fail neutrality standards. If published, this article should be dated as per publishing time (UTC) and not when you started writing or when the event took place. I wish I had more time to help you with this, as I would likely have made the changes myself so as to illustrate. However, there are lots of other helpful people here at Wikinews. --SVTCobra 01:04, 11 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

I have tried to revise this as you suggested, with a <ready> but it I will be very grateful for your help in finalising this - many thanks Chowringhee 15:45, 12 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Wasn't sure how to handle the date, thanks. The material seemed inappropriate for Wikipedia, considering its specificity. Should I have not put it here? —IvoShandor 00:50, 18 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yeah, I gots ya. Thanks. —IvoShandor 03:06, 18 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
About the 24 hours thing, why not, just out of curiosity. Also, blatant factual errors, I assume, are exempt from this policy (if that's what it is)?—IvoShandor 03:12, 18 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
Thanks, the date thing makes sense, but I had never really piece mealed a story together from sources outside of original reporting, so I wasn't sure how to handle it. As for the explanation of the 24 hours bit, I figured it was somewhat arbitrary and had exceptions. Thanks again. —IvoShandor 03:37, 18 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
I know, but realistically, it is pieced together from other sources, unlike an original article, which wouldn't be. And for the record I found you neither gruff nor brusque. —IvoShandor 04:39, 18 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

News brief

Ummmmm okay. Well what has happened is that yesterdays news has become tomorrow's news because Wiki news doesn't populate fast enough until about late evening by then it makes more sense to give someone the stories of the evening for the NEXT day so that technically their news is always up to date. But I can see where that doesn't make a lot sense for Wikinews. Uhhhhhh I guess I can reverse the clock and do the 23rd's news separately and people can just understand they are receiving the latest news (as of yesterday). .:*:*:DAVUMAYA:*:*:. 04:38, 24 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

HELP! The noinclude is not working, The briefs are not being excluded from the main page, whats up with that? Also, the naming convention is whack I mean there should be a space there but when I first made a brief a week ago people renamed it to the whacked up way it was. I don't know why. I honestly would like to go back and rename all files with proper spaces so it looks clean and neat. I'll leave it up to you admin to decide. .:*:*:DAVUMAYA:*:*:. 04:49, 24 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
Umm, yes, I am an admin, but horribly illiterate when it comes to the various multimedia projects that have been attempted here over time. I cannot tell you what the right thing to do is, nor how to avoid the problem in the future. All I could do was to determine that something was wrong. (functionality of noinclude? beats me.) Good luck. --SVTCobra 05:04, 24 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Danish parliament

Fantastic, glad to hear you're interested!
Darn, there's no da.wikinews.org? I presumed that I'd send candidates the same 4-8 questions in English and Danish, and if they replied to only the English, I'd post on en.wn, only to the Danish, I'd post to da.wn, and if they replied to both, I'd publish to both; no translation. But if there's no Danish Wikinews, that kills that, translating dozens of interviews into English is not worth it, even if we found multiple other volunteers.
Perhaps only the party leaders then?
Or are there any ridings/wards/districts/regions/whatever where there's a high English population, to make it worth the while of candidates in those ridings to reply in a non-official language? -- Zanimum 18:57, 30 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
I am not aware of any voting districts where English speakers are a worthwhile audience for candidates. Even if there is one or two in Copenhagen, they are all likely guest-workers who have retained their original citizenship and thus can't vote anyway.
All of the Scandinavian Wikinews sites are dormant. An attempt to create a joint Scandinavian one Wikinytt:Skandinavia hasn't yielded much, either.
Further, there are hundreds of candidates for the 179 member Folketing. There are 14 parties represented in the current makeup, plus some more that run without getting any seats. That said, we could attempt to contact some of the party leaders or the parties themselves. Let me know if you want to pursue this. --SVTCobra 23:15, 30 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Talk page comments

Cobra, leaving comments like "Kill the President" on Talk pages is not good judgment. Quoting the law to them you are providing a forum for something that is illegal. I wish you would use better judgment about the talk page comments that you leave up; most news organizations would remove something that, you know, violates the law. --David Shankbone 15:50, 2 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Single sources

I know, I despair over that. Our news sources in Australia are very broken-off. What's headlines in one newspaper might not even get a spot in another. When it's possible I do try to find more than one source in everything I do (even research papers). Auroranorth 12:02, 5 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Perhaps you should improve your skills in searching for news online. Google News can be helpful. It was really not hard to find additional sources for each of these stories: Reserve Bank of Australia considers interest rate rise, Teachers union says Melbourne Cup may be educational opportunity, and Australia Votes 2007: Howard and Rudd take 'me-tooism' to new heights. Australia is not a third-world country. More than one paper covers things such as the Melbourne Cup, the RBA and the Election. --SVTCobra 14:09, 5 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yes, that's probably the strongest argument for me becoming an admin. As to how I find them, three main ways: 1) if someone makes a comment and I'm reading the comment I'll probably read the article 2) Sometimes I when procrastinating I click on "random article" and read whatever comes up. About 1/4th the time it is a protected article with a mistake I notice 3) One can google site:en.wikinews.org for common mispellings of words. JoshuaZ 15:16, 6 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Danish Wikinewsies? (Danish Prime Minister calls an election for 2007)

Some party e-mail addresses:
Everyone else polled less than 5%. --SVTCobra 23:40, 30 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
Eek, sorry! Okay, presumably what we'll do is interview them in Danish, and publish the interviews on the English Wikinews in tables, where one column is the Danish questions and answers, another column is in English. That way, it's on an active Wikinews, where they're likely to be found by search engines, and a bit more widely read.
Oh goodness, as I write, I see that it's next week that the election happens. This is the second election (the first being the province of Saskatchewan, Canada) that I've doddled on too long. If you can come up with some general, quick to answer questions in Danish, I'll come up with some introductory text in English, for you to translate and send the two parts off. -- Zanimum 15:16, 9 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
I think we missed the boat, it is already 4:20 p.m. in Denmark on a Friday afternoon. The election is on Tuesday. But if you want to try I can translate when I get home from work in about 7 hours. --SVTCobra 15:20, 9 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Image:Jokela killer screenshot youtube.jpg

Is there any reason why this image is not used currently on articles? I think it should be added, at least to the first and second one (not today's one). --Steven Fruitsmaak (Reply) 21:16, 9 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

I think the fair-use arguement to be fairly weak after the story ceases to be breaking news. Also, I am not sure who created that screen-shop off of YouTube, but it wasn't me, so the sourcing is a little shady. I have been told (and by the number of other versions that are floating I believe) that it is a screenshot off of YouTube, but I don't really know. I was actually thinking of deleting it. --SVTCobra 21:20, 9 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
As a derivative of the original youtube video the copyright would likely belong to the estate of the shooter. Obviously, no one is going to get permission for use for that anytime soon. I'd be inclined to argue that this is exactly why fair use is allowed (it isn't clear to me whether this would fall within our fair use criteria). JoshuaZ 21:43, 9 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
I guess we could delete it, it's not being used and there's no need for it anymore now that it's no longer breaking news, although I think it is still good fair use.--Steven Fruitsmaak (Reply) 21:53, 9 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
Personally, I would like to never see this image or any other of him. Detaching myself from those feelings, I will say that the "youtube.com" that can be seen in this image's lower left is not that of a normal screen-shot from YouTube. This leads me to believe that this particlular version may be the work of someone else. Since it is still a screen-shot, I don't know if that gives them any rights at all, but we might be better off replacing it with the one they are using at Jokela school shooting. That image does not have the same text on it. Also, if there is a problem with it, we can say "well, we just imported it from Wikipedia assuming their fair-use rationale was good." That image is, btw, w:Image:Jokela-school-shooter.jpg. But like I said, I'd rather not look at his face again. --SVTCobra 04:59, 10 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
Media outlets like CNN were using images that were part of the "packet" released by Auvinen before the incident. In it were 5 or 6 images, I think, including various stills from the videos the guy made. I might be wrong, though; the media packet I saw might have included both Auvinen's material and derivative stuff like third party screen caps. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.61.64.113 (talk) 21:30, 28 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

BBC drops programmes as third of staff join strike

Sorry to be an anorak, but spotted some duff wikilinks (due to lack of capitals) in those past BBC articles that I quoted:

BBC television centreBBC Television Centre and BectuBECTU in "BBC drops programmes as third of staff join strike"

BectuBECTU is wrong in "BBC prepared for news blackout as staff strike"
and also in "Unions ballot to "shut down the BBC""
The latter also has a Independent Television which could be improved from disambig. to Independent Television

Presumably there's somewhere to report such things rather than pestering you (but I've not found it yet).

Re: Mukasey

As a non-US citizen I felt the sentence in the Nov 10 article about waterboarding quite vague, so I felt I had to give a better explanation, which I found in the Nov 6 article. Re: Iran/Observer article

Hi SVTCobra, thanks for separating the articles out. I guess the orginal article can be re-dated to prevent the "fish-and-chips-wrapping" problem of it becoming stale. Actually, I do appreciate you looking at and contributing to my work, even if I don't agree with you. I can see that there were misunderstandings between us which caused the original friction. That anonymous "cleanup" tag really annoyed me. I'm sorry if you were offended by what I said (you seemed quite taken aback by my description of "propaganda"), but I really do have strong feelings about what constitutes "balance" and good journalism. For example, I do not think that taking comments from one side and comments from the other side constitutes "balance". Both sides could be lying through their teeth (and frankly, this is frequently the case). These cases require more journalism to find some independent analysis of the situation. I really don't think that my article was originally unbalanced. Dox96 04:45, 13 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

No, your article isn't inherently imbalanced. Technically you did your part in balancing the article with a lot precautionary statements about the reliability of the sources. From my point of view, that shows a pre-disposition toward a source, for better or worse. It would be like basing an article on a press release from a politician and then saying "Well, no one takes them seriously."
Well I disagree with you there. The original source that I had were a bunch of employees who were saying what they felt (and not through a PR company). Since one would not normally regard these people as being anti-US, it was indeed news in itself; that is, the quotes were the news. So the reliability test is reasonable - it would be an extraordinary situation if they were lying (what possible motivation - they've risked their careers!), or if the Observer fabricated the report (which is an extremely risky thing to do - if they were caught, they'd be crucified). A press release isn't news - it's PR, it's advertising, and anyway, it's not reliable. The two don't compare. Dox96 12:04, 13 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
The way I like to keep my articles neutral is to gather a bunch of sources, and use direct quotes from the players involved. Of course, I could pick and choose, and sometimes you have to because those talking heads just keep talking, but I try to pick what they are trying to say. If you look at my articles, they are filled with direct quotes. No one has ever commented on that, so I don't know if they notice, but I don't editorialize and I try not to play favorites. I hope to see you again here on Wikinews. --SVTCobra 05:07, 13 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
I have serious reservations with your methods here. Take another look at the talk page of your article ("US denies plans of attack"). You quoted Condi Rice as saying "Why won't Tehran talk to us", and yet I found a source which says that the Iranians have been offering talks since 2003!! This is why you can't just quote the talking heads - everything they say has to be independently verified since they will only say the party line, as they've been carefully trained to do. It's called PR. It may be true, it may not be. It may seriously misrepresent the situation, or it may not. The talking heads really don't offer any information, just propaganda. That's why I try to avoid quoting those stupid talking heads, and that's why serious journalism requires deeper investigation. Frankly it's hard work (as I've just discovered - I've done nothing except work, sleep and do this for the last 24 hours!). Dox96 12:04, 13 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yep, you are right again. --SVTCobra 03:43, 14 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi SVTCobra! (how I hate copyright). Well, I've seen you've used material from VOA News, but in their disclaimer a little phrase that has called my attention appears: "... we ask that you not abridge or edit any VOA material which you may use.". Isn't this a sort of "-nd" (non-derivatives), not compatible with our CC-BY? But, at the same time, the same copyright page states that "All text, audio and video material produced exclusively by the Voice of America is public domain [...]". I mean, 'public domain' means you can do absolutely everything with the material (except such things which are not allowed by law), thus meaning you can make derivative works. Nonetheless, the "we ask that you not abridge or edit any VOA material which you may use." doesn't actually –I dunno– guarantee this... Any thought? - Jurock (reply) 22:44, 16 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

That's a good question. I hope the use of "ask" means it is just a request. I will try to research this and seek input from others. I hope that we can at least update the information. I have not 'abridged' anything per se, but I have added stuff to their story. I hope this use is OK. I will let you know what I find out. --SVTCobra 22:50, 16 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Easier/ Oil prices

Hi! I was bold and made this thing (in which I've seen you've been involved) to be more easily updated (too much text confuses). Do you like it? It's what we do in Spanish Wikinews to update stock indexes... - Jurock (reply) 01:16, 17 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

I do like what I see. Perhaps there should be a "user guide" to help people who want to update. Something like what you should put if the market is down. I can see that it is {{profit}} if it is up, is the opposite "loss"? Also, from the sources that I use, the % change is not readily available, do I have to calculate that myself? It is clearly an improvement. --SVTCobra 01:33, 17 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
I'm relying on Bloomberg's data - Jurock (reply) 01:41, 17 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
Oh! BTW, why don't you use a bot to update it? And BTW, do you know who could program a bot for es.wikinews, to update markets... I mean, it isn't that horrible job, but it would be nicer if it were updated automatically... Jurock (reply) 01:45, 17 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
We should get a bot, but I am not adept in these things. --SVTCobra 01:56, 17 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Unfortunately I have not :(I will ask Zach if he will...But no luck otherwise :( DragonFire1024 (Talk to the Dragon) 01:31, 17 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Jurock has just (literally minutes ago) taken an interest in this template. I'll link it Template:Crude Oil Prices. He was a bit bold (per our mantra) and restructured the thing, but I think it may be easier to update now. Take a look at it. --SVTCobra 01:41, 17 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
It is easier but Bloomberg is not accurate as NYMEX or ICE homepages which update more frequently than bloomberg. DragonFire1024 (Talk to the Dragon) 01:44, 17 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
Hadn't seen this before... Well, I don't really care if Bloomberg hasn't got it by a few minutes... After all, it hadn't been updated since Nov. 12 (i think), so what's the point really... - Jurock (reply) 01:46, 17 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
Well I was updating it as much I could, but I started a new job and not a lot of time. DragonFire1024 (Talk to the Dragon) 01:49, 17 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
I never cared that much that it was on the main page. I mean who is to say what the most important prices are? Is it oil, is gold, is EUR/USD, or is it the MSCI World index? --SVTCobra 02:01, 17 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
Well (just to bother), oil has supposedly been a constant target for news, breaking record after record and threatening to surpass $100... I suppose that was the main goal: to cover up the ongoing event... Nevertheless, the price has gone down... (I have written some articles on that on es.wikinews). Maybe it's not that necessary now... - Jurock (reply) 02:05, 17 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
True oil has been setting records, but so have many stock markets. Gold broke $800/oz. and is close to its own record. The US$ is at its lowests in decades. Lots of stuff is happening in financial markets, which is why I think it hard to pick one (or even two) that are deserving of the main page. --SVTCobra 02:12, 17 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
Then pick them all... xD - Jurock (reply) 02:15, 17 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
Monday is a new trading day...and between then and now, anything can happen. And more people are affected in the world than they are by gold. Also, I was trying to make a constructive point in making this, We have a whole market section. Look at the bottom for more too. I just happened to only be interested in oil, as it effects the most people. DragonFire1024 (Talk to the Dragon) 02:15, 17 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
Yes, arguably more people are affected by oil than gold, but stock markets are probably even wider reaching and currency exchange rates are hugely in world markets. If Jurock saying is that we could bot the updates, then I won't have any problem with wide variety of financial markets on the main page. --SVTCobra 02:30, 17 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
We can do as BBC. I mean, on the 'main page' (for main page, it can be understood the "Business" section of the BBC) we can put the main six stock markets (DJIA, Nasdaq, S&P 500, FTSE 100, CAC 40, DAX), and link to a more specific page... In Spanish Wikinews we have a template with all the data, which is displayed partially in the Main Page (using ParserFunctions), but has its full-detailed version as well. Well, regarding to updates, I don't think making a bot for it would be that difficult (I don't know a bit from bots, but it doesn't seem difficult) - Jurock (reply) 02:36, 17 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
We HAD a bot that was run by Iyla...not sure of the name of it I thin it was User:MarketDataBot or MarketBot. DragonFire1024 (Talk to the Dragon) 02:39, 17 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
I just want to avoid "human updating" because that eventually goes stale. The 'main six' you mention are a bit Anglo/Euro centric, but that is also where the majority of capital is. But, yes, that'd be a great start, imo. --SVTCobra 02:46, 17 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
Well, you could add the Australian All Ordinaries... But, anyway, I guess most of en.wikinews readers come either from the US, the UK or Australia... (except Brian, who's Belgian... xD) - Jurock (reply) 02:50, 17 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
That's why I'd like to leave it out, because someone is going to say Japan's Nikkei-225 index should be on there, and soon thereafter someone else will say the Shanghai-25 should be there and then why not BM&F and on and on. But if you feel strongly that we should have market data (and if it can be automatically with a bot) then this is not the place to discuss it. Go to Wikinews:Water cooler/proposals and mention it there. Good ideas are always welcomed. --SVTCobra 03:22, 17 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Re: RF(d)A

Sorry to have confused you there... I simply think this user has become inactive, therefore there is no point in him keeping his rights -I don't need WN:IP to base this on, although I think it is a good proposal, this is just common sense. I guess I was trying to be too complex when it doesn't really matter. I don't agree with the way this user, who contributed a lot to Wikinews, is being abused to test that proposal. So I want him to lose his admin rights because he's inactive, but not based on WN:IP. Sorry again if this confused you. --Steven Fruitsmaak (Reply) 21:35, 17 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Primarily it was because it listed with the entire url and not as an internal link. Also, the fact that the story prep is empty is a factor. UK prime minister says donations were not lawfully declared

Can I just say that when moving an article from ready to needs development you shoul give a reason in the talk page, which you did not do.As an admin I would expect you to follow simple guidelines like these. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Anonymous101 (talkcontribs) 19:15, 27 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

You may say that, but I might remind you that on two occasions, you re-published this article after it was un-published by different admins without properly addressing the problems with the article. When an unfit article is published, my first concern is to unpublish it. I will do that with no explanation on the talk page at first, and just move it to {{develop}}. Then, I will either fix it or post something on the talk page (collaboration page). But I had no chance to do that. You, first republished, then moved to ready, before I had any chance to do either of two. (and to muck it up further, an anon re-published in the same span of time.) Afterall, this was only unpublished for 22 minutes, so I wouldn't fret about it. --SVTCobra 19:28, 27 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
I and presumably the anonymous wouldn't republish it if a reason was given --Anonymous101 19:35, 27 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the help

Thanks for blocking the abusive user who was defacing my page. I'm pretty certain that he is w:User:EverybodyHatesChris, who has been indefinitely banned for abusive behaviour, article ownership, and other issues. I've unfortunately incurred his wrath as I had the nerve to bring several of his block-evading sockpuppets to the attention of enWiki's administrators. I just regret that this user is now disrupting Wikinews in an attempt to exact "revenge".
I'm also certain that this user will turn out to be coming through the same IP that left the first message (User:67.53.130.69). That IP is blocked on enWiki, and is confirmed as the IP for the aforementioned user. I don't know enough about Wikinews policy regarding blocks, but you may wish to consider blocking the IP as well - "EverybodyHatesChris"'s pattern is to establish a series of sockpuppets and carry on using them.
My final question is this: is there any way to get the abusive edits removed from my account history? If the attacks had occured on enWiki, I'd probably not bother as they would soon be buried deep within the page history. However, given that I'm not on Wikinews too frequently at the present time, I'm not crazy about having these attacks being so prominent on the page history. Anyway, thanks again for the help, and I'm sorry this has inconvenienced you. Thanks. --Ckatz 06:08, 28 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Sorry mate

, I just realized that was a really bad way to do things: just dump my notes in the article and then act as if it were mine. (and then have other stuff to do for hours...) If your interested in doing something go ahead. Just because I´m here doesn´t mean I get the exclusive! I´d actually be very pleased if you do an article or two on the general stuff, cause of course I could be doing that from at home as well :D. But I feel obliged to do it, cause in depth articles would look out of place otherwise in my opinion. I´m posting my previous hours work in a sec (unfortunately I managed to delete half of the (short anyway) article, when I was powering down to go to somewhere with internet acess :( (that would be the De Boer speech). new templates from meta:BiDi workgroup

Dear SVTCobra! The new templates regards mainly issues from my work at the meta:BiDi workgroup. Sometimes it is necessary to properly embed a RTL (right to left) text in this wiki and avoid the standard rendering of the bidirectional algorithm. Such rendering may confuse the readers / users. Another time it will be necessary to display Unicode characters with the apropriate font (font-family and font-size). In these cases templates from wikt:yi:category:style templates can / should be used.
Please see some bug tracking systems I am working on at wikt:yi:template:bug tracking/gangleri. The best way to contact me would be to come to IRC at #wiktionary, #mediawiki-i18n or at #kavehoyz. Best regards

I can't imagine when we would need it on this wiki. --SVTCobra 17:28, 13 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your great help on this! I guess you've read how I feel kinda silly now I've moved and don't have IT facilities to finish this myself, I'm completely reliant on others now... Anyway thanks for all the help already done! --Steven Fruitsmaak (Reply) 23:04, 13 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yes I noticed your pain sweat and tears, a special thanks for that! If you agree with me that the video is the key part, I'll publish: it'll draw attention to others who might complete the transcript. I'll do it myself in 2 weeks when I'm back home, if nobody has by then.--Steven Fruitsmaak (Reply) 23:20, 13 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
Yeah I wasn't sure about that, know it's against the rules but have seen it in a few of David's interviews... I'll remove it.--Steven Fruitsmaak (Reply) 23:37, 13 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
That late already???   Okidok, I'll bump. --Steven Fruitsmaak (Reply) 23:52, 13 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Pakistan Kidnapping

The doctor in person is my father and I had to put this news to the world media somehow. His real name is "Reginald Humayun Zahiruddin" and the hearsay is what I have come to know from talks with family and friends. Alas, I am in the UK while all this unfolds in Pakistan, I can only deem it hearsay. It didn't feel good to quote myself. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.149.223.120 (talk) 14:22, 14 December 2007 (UTC) - Arun Reginald 14:28, 14 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Currency

Hi SVTCobra. Please have a look at the Mulroney talk page. I don't feel strongly either way, but I do like to follow the style guide. If you feel the guide needs to be updated for currency symbols, you could propose that. I'll let you revert your revert if you feel inspired to. If not...that's okay too. Re: Image:Abu Musab al-Zarqawi.jpg

Sadly no, you're talking about a picture that's about a year and a half old now. --TUFKAAP 20:57, 15 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Help

It looks like you figured that out, unfortunately the story 2007 Hong Kong Super Series cannot be used here. While our badminton coverage is lacking, we cannot make up for it by posting news from over two weeks ago. However, as new stories like tournament results, etc., emerge we would love to see your contributions. Let me know if I can be of any other help. Cheers, --SVTCobra 00:07, 20 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks

Thanks for sticking the disclaimer on David's latest piece, wasn't 100% awake when I published that this morning. --Brian McNeil / talk 12:30, 20 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

No worries, --SVTCobra 00:23, 21 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi SVT! I am not sure that the singer Cali that you linked would be the artist at this show in Nashville. I can't be sure, but look at the Wikipedia entry and try the artist's homepage under External links. Just doesn't seem right. That's why I left it unlinked. Jcart1534 23:58, 20 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Ok, I'll check it. --SVTCobra 00:08, 21 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
Yep, you're right again. It is this young lady, who somehow doesn't have a Wikipedia page. --SVTCobra 00:22, 21 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
Yes, that seems more likely. The other one seemed...out of place. Cheers, Jcart1534 00:27, 21 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

RE Lakota

Oops...sorry...force of habit. I generally forget to look at the newsroom. :) DragonFire1024 (Talk to the Dragon) 00:54, 21 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Sources/Wikinews/WP

We have that, likely spread around in policies and such. I can say the style guide, accreditation policy, Welcome messages, etc etc...maybe it does need to be centralized. But point is, I am sick of WP and the sme excuses. We are as verifiable as anyone else if not more so. And if I ever see a I saw it on TV thing other than a press conference, which watching on v is like attending. And I would belive my word on that or yours over an anonymous user or new user. So the verifiability excuse is lame and getting old IMO. DragonFire1024 (Talk to the Dragon) 01:51, 25 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Also, I agree with Jimbo and sure we can do that, but lets be honest, is that going to make the least bit of difference in terms of WP? DragonFire1024 (Talk to the Dragon) 01:53, 25 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
Maybe you and I would believe eachother when we say we saw it on TV, but why would anyone else in the world? They don't understand our special relationship. Furthermore, it is no one else can go back and verify it. Further, believe it or not MSM has full-time people that are there to verify the stuff that they print or air. We don't exactly have that, so to say our stuff is as good or better rings kinda hollow. But in response to your followup about Jimbo's proposal, yes, yes I believe it will. An article that is archived and tagged "This article followed Best Practices" would be considered good enough to use as a reliable source on Wikipedia. --SVTCobra 02:03, 25 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Tiger

Well the tiger story is old news...well the first one. I would say keep the worker inaccuracy, because it was what was known at the time. DragonFire1024 (Talk to the Dragon) 01:00, 27 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Leeds item...

Yeah, It's abandoned... Shame... Maybe Wikinews can't do investigative :( ShakespeareFan00 14:14, 27 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
