I will be on a law school-imposed semi Wikivacation until August 2010

You've reached the user page of one of the original Wikinews Admins. I abdicated that status more than a year ago due to the belief that the wiki way and organized journalism are incompatible. Please leave requests and comments on my Talk page.

I'm both a former Wikinews and current Wikipedia admin as an avocation. It is important to remember that administrators are not any more important than any other user. Admins are basically janitors who clean up accidental (and sometimes vandalous) messes as requested by the community.

In the real world, I have been a professional journalist for about 19 years... for what it's worth. I have recently become burned out in traditional media as most of the companies I worked for were acquired by marketing firms or conglomerates who saw news product as a necessary (or unnecessary) evil needed to market their advertising.

In 2004, I entered semi-journalistic retirement and started studying law with plans to become a lawyer within the next 5 years.

Wiki involvement

edit

I have been involved in Wikinews since a few weeks after it officially launched. I have been a Wikipedian since November 2003 and an administrator there for more than 2 years. I also have written for Wikibooks. Currently, I only contribute sporadicly to Wikinews.
