Unused in a news or documentation and was previously marked for speedy deletion. "Stale or not news" is not a valid deletion reason here by the looks of it. I could not confirm it is copyvio. Can you confirm or transfer to commons? Gryllida (talk) 06:53, 5 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

All of these articles appear to be largely incoherent (probably machine translated) spam. Omphalographer (talk) 00:50, 18 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

MGA73, can you generate a new-and-improved list of files that need to be deleted? Once we have an updated and accurate list, we can then request assistance on m:Global sysops/Requests. —Michael.C.Wright (Talk/Published) 15:56, 21 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Michael.C.Wright The files can be seen in Category:Print Edition (SXW). But before we request deletion I would like to see if I can make a list of pages that should be updated. For example Wikinews:Print edition/April 2006 that list the files for April 2006. --MGA73 (talk) 16:18, 21 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'm doing edits like Special:Diff/4805561 to remove links from pdf-files to sxw-files. But some files are protected. So we have 3 options: 1) We ignore the pages, 2) Admins fix the files manually or 3) My bot get admins rights for one day so it can fix the pages. --MGA73 (talk) 16:46, 21 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I honestly don't see options 2 and 3 happening. We have too few active admin to accomplish it, given that we also have open edit requests for several files in the upgrade project, as well as many other admin-required maintenance tasks that are slowly stacking up.
You could add {{Editprotected}} to the talk page of protected pages with brief instructions and we can move on. Maybe at some point we can engage global sysops in a directed, mass cleanup. —Michael.C.Wright (Talk/Published) 17:14, 21 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I tried to make a list at my sandbox with files that seems to have the text sxw: Special:Diff/4805647. It is 50+ files.
Some of the files have no information template. That should be added too. I think my old code should be able to do that if files are unprotected or my bot gets admin flag :-)
Can you think of other pages to fix? --MGA73 (talk) 19:19, 21 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Wikinews:Print edition/day perhaps. --MGA73 (talk) 19:22, 21 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
And why those external links at Wikinews:Print edition/May 2005? --MGA73 (talk) 19:26, 21 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Overly broad. There was near-unanimous agreement in 2018 on the talk page this cat is not suitable as-is.

There, Pi stated something, in fact, I've long thought of this cat: "Few articles get added to this category for much the same reason few get added to Category:World: if interpreted in a simplistic way they would be so absurdly inclusive that they would be useless, so the only way there's any point to populating them at all is they're given some narrower interpretation — but the name of the category gives no obvious support to any narrower interpretation, leaving it up to individuals to occasionally put things here as it's not clear what else to do with them."

I see this as an unsuitable sort of union of a few cats: Women's rights, e.g. Arizona bans abortion for genetic abnormalities, the Wikimedia gender gap, e.g. Wikimedian Cindy Ashley-Nelson dies at conference in Berlin, and, as discussed on the talk, some as-yet nonexistent third cat for articles like Qatar appoints four women to its law-drafting Shura Council which don't exactly relate to women's rights but are more "women breaking glass ceilings". I'm unsure what we should call the hypothetical third cat — perhaps "Gender politics" (in the spirit of Category:Gun politics) — but I think it should replace this one.
