With Nov. 5 slowly approaching, we all must be wondering, how are our candidates doing?

For a U.S. president to be elected, one would need 270 electoral college votes. As a result of this system, candidates target high-vote states known as battleground states. These include California, at fifty-four votes; Texas, at forty votes; Florida, at thirty votes; and New York, at twenty-eight votes.

Our Democratic and Republican nominees are currently campaigning to gain favor in two groups; Former President Trump would like to amend a former statement of offense to journalists, while Vice President Harris seeks to find voters in the Arab-American community.

Former President Trump was initially alleged to have made a statement about "shoot[ing] through reporters." However, he has now said that he would not support such a thing. Specifically, he meant that he wouldn't mind shots "through the fake news."

In Michigan, a minor battleground state, Vice President Harris stated that while the "Arab American" community is "not a monolith," she acknowledged their concerns. She emphasized that she was running for an office to be a public servant, and that she would do what she could to end their war.

It is good for these candidates to make their statements now, because After election day, we'll all watch the vote-count, with or without them. While our candidates attempt to endear themselves to us, we must decide who to vote for; get out and vote!
