The London Fire Brigade are currently tackling what they have described as a "major fire" at Camden Market in London.

Early eyewitness reports state that a "strong smell of gas" and "explosions" preceded the blaze, which reportedly has a number of people trapped. Full story

North sea Oil Rig evacuated in security alert

Reports of a 'device' on the rig have not been confirmed. An oil rig in the North Sea has been evacuated after a security alert. Up to 539 oil workers are being moved off the affected rig in an operation that began at 09:20 UTC this morning. Full story

The Internet group Anonymous today held protests, critical of the religious group Church of Scientology and marking what would have been the 49th birthday of Lisa McPherson, who is claimed to be a victim of the Church of Scientology's practices. Lisa died in 1995 during a running of what Scientologists refer to as an Introspection Rundown, a procedure intended to help Church members deal with psychotic or deeply traumatic event. Protests are planned throughout the day in over 250 cities worldwide. Full story
