Remember to properly caption your images per Wikinews:Style_guide#Image_captions. Using the {{image}} template is important to give proper credit to the image author.

Also remember to clearly identify file images (images that predate the story) per Wikinews:Style_guide#Using_images_and_other_pictures. I recently made the same mistake.

When using file images, it is important to point out that the image predates the event of the story and is not a representation of actual events that are being reported on. Denoting an image as from file as opposed to event-specific can be done with "File image of " or "File photo from YYYY". This full disclosure ensures that readers will not be confused by images included with Wikinews text.

I made some changes to the Mass Ave. Bridge image as an example. Feel free to change or undo those edits.

Hopefully you can develop this into a published article!

Thank you! BigKrow (talk) 00:52, 21 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
When you use the {{image}} template, you have to manually add the author's name. If there is a link provided for the author, I typically add that link as well. The author can be found on the image summary when you click on the image. Michael.C.Wright (Talk/Published) 14:18, 21 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Good reminder: Heck, I need reminders myself!!--Bddpaux (talk) 14:28, 21 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Length

edit

This meets the newly-modified criteria in terms of article length, but only just. It's good work, though. Maybe a follow up to the story is in order?--Bddpaux (talk) 14:29, 21 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Title change?

edit

The title doesn't seem right.... Changes? Thanks. BigKrow (talk) 02:51, 22 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

I agree. Maybe it could be shortened to something like "Massachusetts State Police Marine Unit pull body from the Charles River." Once you change it, that change will have to be approved by a reviewer because it's published. Michael.C.Wright (Talk/Published) 14:08, 22 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
K, thanks. BigKrow (talk) 18:33, 22 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
I'm awaiting approval or declined, thanks. BigKrow (talk) 18:38, 22 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
It's too late to change the headline now. The window for that is the significant-edits window that closes 24 hours after publication under WN:ARCHIVE. Heavy Water (talk) 19:53, 22 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
Understood sorry. 64.39.81.54 (talk) 20:01, 22 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
And thank you BigKrow (talk) 20:02, 22 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Heavy Water it is too late to change headline, agreed? No action required correct? Please let me know. Gryllida (talk) 09:01, 5 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

{{moveprotected}}

It's not protected, but it requires an admin to move it, since that requires deleting the redirect left behind at the title as published. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Heavy Water (talkcontribs)
Gryllida: I must have misunderstood this in March. Sorry. The headline has actually not been considered a matter of substance historically and therefore can be changed at any time, even post-archiving. Heavy Water (talk) 20:35, 20 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
