What was this for? --128.243.253.111 23:00, 11 November 2008 (UTC)

The edits you made were not correct. People were not taking the test, kids were. DragonFire1024 (Talk to the Dragon) 04:21, 12 November 2008 (UTC)
I agree, that's why I changed the word 'people' to 'children'. If we're on the same page then why did you revert me? --128.243.253.113 05:25, 14 November 2008 (UTC)
I am sorry...must have misread what you did. I put it back. DragonFire1024 (Talk to the Dragon) 11:03, 14 November 2008 (UTC)
Thank you... but oh how surprising, an administrator automatically assuming an anonymous editor's contributions were in bad faith! That's never happened to me before! I don't know why I bother. --128.243.253.113 13:42, 16 November 2008 (UTC)
Actually I said it was a mistake and was not intended to make your edits look bad. I apologized and reverted my edits. Everyone makes mistakes, even administrators. DragonFire1024 (Talk to the Dragon) 16:34, 16 November 2008 (UTC)
I'd be more inclined to accept that if you hadn't reverted purely based on what you percieved as one mistake. Did you not notice the size of my edit? All the corrections I made to the various titles of politicians? I imagine if I had a username you would have gone over the details with more care, but no: one slip-up from an anonymous editor and the entire thing simply must be erreneous! I get this kind of treatment from every Wikimedia project I contribute to, and it's all because I am a string of numbers instead of a stupid pseudonym. --128.243.253.111 23:51, 22 November 2008 (UTC)
Ok accept my apology or don't. Your choice. DragonFire1024 (Talk to the Dragon) 15:22, 23 November 2008 (UTC)
I did. I just wanted to make my point absolutely clear in the perhaps vain hope that I and my fellow anons stop being treated like this. --128.243.253.112 00:29, 25 November 2008 (UTC)
It was a simple mistake. Nothing more, nothing less. Sorry to have upset you so. DragonFire1024 (Talk to the Dragon) 01:08, 25 November 2008 (UTC)

Interview

edit

Hi. I'm planning on interviewing a Hawaii-based author for Wikinews. The author in question is semi-active on Wikipedia. Is there anything important I need to be aware of before I do this? I'm planning on either saving the interview as a chat transcript, or ideally, recording a skype call. The author may also supply some photos. Viriditas (talk) 10:46, 5 December 2008 (UTC)

IWF Statement

Hi DragonFire1024 - you seem to be the main contributor to the UK ISPs blocking WP article. I thought you'd like to know the Internet Watch Foundation have issued a statement [11] regarding this, vague as it may be. Best wishes, Pretzels (talk) 19:38, 7 December 2008 (UTC)

Whole of Wikipedia blocked

edit

How many sources and what steps have you taken to verify them? Have you made sure it's not just their internet connection playing up, for example? Did you get them to wait ten minutes and see if it came back? Etc. No-one else has heard any such reports, so the burden is on you to give some more details. --Tango (talk) 19:57, 7 December 2008 (UTC)

I don't need to. At the time thats what I was told. There is a screen shot listed in reddit. I would not write it if it were not true. DragonFire1024 (Talk to the Dragon) 20:02, 7 December 2008 (UTC)
You have an obligation to take reasonable steps to verify what you read. You haven't learned anything, you've just read some random comment on the internet - learning is an active process and involves a certain about of verification and concious thought. Is it really likely that the censorship is blocking someone from the whole site when everyone else seems to be able to access it fine? --Tango (talk) 20:06, 7 December 2008 (UTC)
You don't know who I talked to and when. As a journalist, I am not obligated to disclose who I talked to, when I talked to them, and what about. This was also several hours ago. But regardless I stand by my statement, at the time this was the case. DragonFire1024 (Talk to the Dragon) 20:11, 7 December 2008 (UTC)

Hello. I noticed you're active today. Would you mind reviewing today's shorts? The only reason I'm asking this is because in a few minutes it will become December 8, and then they will be considered old news. Thanks, ♪TempoDiValse♪ 22:47, 7 December 2008 (UTC)

Blocked IWF proxy - allow ac?

edit

Hey DF, I notice you've blocked a couple of the proxy IPs that are being used by UK IPs, and given the edits rightly so. I also understand why you didn't bother with warnings, since there would be so many users on the IPs the vandal would never see them. However, by the same token there are a large number of non-vandal users, many of whom are contributing to the comments page of the article. Would you have a problem if I modified the block (at least on the one requesting unblock) to allow account creation, as they did on WP? Chris Mann (Say hi!|Stalk me!) 03:48, 8 December 2008 (UTC)

Ooopps...didn't notice that...yes do what you need to. A mistake on my part :-) DragonFire1024 (Talk to the Dragon) 03:51, 8 December 2008 (UTC)
Cool. Fixed, although I completely screwed up the duration. Let it be known that if there is huge protest at this, you or another admin can do as you see fit. Chris Mann (Say hi!|Stalk me!) 03:54, 8 December 2008 (UTC)
Thanks no problem :) DragonFire1024 (Talk to the Dragon) 03:55, 8 December 2008 (UTC)
A sort of random thought - Would it possibly make sense to recommend (in the block comment) these users use https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikinews/en/wiki/Main_Page to browse wikinews, as there real IP shows up through the secure server i believe. Bawolff 07:49, 8 December 2008 (UTC)

You closed this DR, but DRs are supposed to remain open for seven days. --SVTCobra 23:02, 8 December 2008 (UTC)

It was an old article, and already in the archives. It was put up for deletion in the state it was in prior to it being at least somewhat fixed. I thought it ok as it was fixed. DragonFire1024 (Talk to the Dragon) 02:39, 9 December 2008 (UTC)
No it was not archived. It was found during an archive effort. That doesn't explain why you closed it early. It was never published with a date, which means it no reader would have bumped into it. --SVTCobra 02:51, 9 December 2008 (UTC)
Nonetheless it was there. Main page or not someone did find it. If they wanted to find it specifically, I am sure they could have. I don't see the issue here with something that is almost a year old. If its that big of a deal re-open the DR. DragonFire1024 (Talk to the Dragon) 02:53, 9 December 2008 (UTC)
