Talk:Former Scottish Conservatives leader Annabel Goldie to stand down as MSP
Notes to reviewer
editI hope you don't mind, only I've plucked certain 'common knowledge' details from Wikipedia, as I was not sure where else to get such details from. These include:
- the numbers for Scottish Parliament MSPs and UK Parliament MPs elected in Scotland
- the name of the electoral region Goldie represents
- what the Smith Commission was intended for
I hope this does not cause too many problems. --Rayboy8 (talk) (contributions) 20:27, 25 June 2015 (UTC)

Factual correction – Brian Monteith MSP was never a Scottish Conservative Whip in the Scottish Parliament. He was a backbencher when he resigned.

- Per Bluetrot above: It appears Ryan misinterpreted Monteith "resigning the whip" as resigning a position as whip. In fairness, The Guardian contributes to the confusion by contradicting itself on whether the whip was removed from him or he resigned; this BBC article clearly states he resigned. Perhaps {{correction|date=[date]|explanation=Brian Monteith's resignation was not from a position of Conservative whip in the Scottish Parliament, which he did not hold, but from the Conservative grouping in the Scottish Parliament.}} Heavy Water (talk) 02:39, 12 September 2023 (UTC)
- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Reference_desk/Humanities#UK_politics/senate added. Looks good just no idea whether backbencher and grouping are the same thing ... Gryllida (talk) 08:00, 5 December 2024 (UTC)
- The backbenchers are the members of a party grouping that do not hold a particular position. During a parliamentary session, they do not speak other than to vote or to murmur things like "hear, hear". 2A02:A46B:971E:1:6963:E504:E80A:255D (talk) 09:55, 5 December 2024 (UTC)
