Talk:England: West Midlands region floods amid heavy rain, high winds
county/region
edit@Heavy Water It's confirmed to be talking about the region because the BBC article mentions Staffordshire and Shropshire, both of which are not within the West Midlands county but are in the West Midlands region. Stating that the Black Country is part of the West Midlands region is also not incorrect as the West Midlands county is within the region. Hope that helps clarify my opinions on this! - I wasn't saying any of this is incorrect, just unsupported by the sources. But I guess the sources can be interpreted as saying Staffordshire and Shropshire are in the West Midlands. Heavy Water (talk) 21:26, 16 June 2023 (UTC)
- Well, I'm thinking it's too large of a leap to say "On Monday, storms caused flooding in the West Midlands region of England," without the sources clearly delineating this was the West Midlands region, and it's really confusing right now without specifying if it's the county or region we're talking about. So please add a source for that — I see a BBC article from today which would also allow you to incorporate the weekend forecast, but I'm not sure if it's too involved for me as reviewer to link you to it. - Surely there are more comprehensive sources for an event of this magnitude. Local reporting should not be discounted. On the other hand, Wikinews (imho) should not super-localize on events which may be broader. I'd hate for this article to get hung up on the issue of "county" vs "region". - From what I've seen, and also anecdotally experienced as someone who lives in the area, most of the flooding has been localised to the strip of land between Dudley and Rugeley: mostly, but not entirely, within the county. I've incorporated this BBC article that clarifies we're definitely talking about the region, and also included info about the upcoming weather warning. I'm going to add a primary met office source for the weather warning as it covers a broader area (most of England and all of Wales). Asheiou (talk) 17:01, 17 June 2023 (UTC)
