This is absurd. So, we happily devour the flesh of cattle, swine, bulls, etc, and we feel sorry for cats and canines. That's plain species discrimination.
Meat eaters don't purposely injure food animals and leave them to die. Animal welfare charities like the RSPCA also promote better conditions for farm animals, and prosecute farmers for cruelty. ( http://www.rspca.org.uk/freedomfood/aboutus/-/article/FF_AboutUs )
You clearly don't understand the difference between cruelty and just killing an animal; it's different to make an animal suffer than to just end it's life. Getting pleasure from seeing living things suffer is not only psychotic but also criminal, I hope they find whoever is responsible. --Sampi (talk) 15:09, 15 July 2010 (UTC)

Holy flip. Every year, featherless chickens are debeaked, and they're so fat that their legs can't hold them etc. An they are trapped in a small space with other chickens. Pigs are forced to eat their own poo and drink their own pee when food is insufficient. And poo is dripping from their comrades above them. You call that not cruelty? Those who think modern farmers are goody-goodies which keep animals on nice, open-air farms obviously don't know what the heck is happening to 21st animals. You should get a copy of Diet for a New America - it's a big book, but Robbins is quite humorous.
