Wikinews talk:Commentary pages on news events/intro

The current code does not create the correct link to the article talk page, it creates a link to the talk space of the namespace the page is currently on. Thus, when used as the header on a Comments: page, it links to Comments talk:, leading to at least some of these. Replacing {{TALKSPACEE}} with Talk should give the desired effect. User:SVTCobra didn't quite follow what I meant, so I'll try to explain a bit better: If you click on a "Have Your Say" link in an article, or one of the links to add a comment in the Comments page header, this page is included at the top of the edit page. When that happens, the link to "its normal Talk page" links, not to "Talk:Article name", but "Comments talk:Article name". This is because the magic word TALKSPACEE returns the name of the talk space associated with the page it's on - if you look at the page here, since it's in Wikinews space, it links to "Wikinews talk" - similarly, [[{{TALKSPACE}}:{{BASEPAGENAME}}]] resolves to Wikinews talk:Commentary pages on news events. If you replace the use of TALKSPACEE with Talk, then it should link correctly - the code would be [{{fullurl:Talk:{{BASEPAGENAMEE}}|action=edit&section=new}} its normal talk page]. That seems to have done the trick. The good news is that the existence of Comment talk pages suggests that some people actually read these things. Chris Mann (Say hi!|Stalk me!) 02:21, 17 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

change wording

edit

The current phrasing of point 3 sounds a little (too) arbitrary... I suggest something like "Your comments may be removed if there is a need to do so", possibly with a link to w:WP:OA. 68.39.174.238 23:36, 5 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Not done Your variation on this point still leaves it pretty arbitrary, and I think it should be so. But we should not suggest that removal of comments is on the level of w:Wikipedia:Office actions. Comments may be removed for a variety of reasons and need not qualify for this statement: These are removals of questionable or illegal Wikimedia content following complaints. The commentary namespace is still in its infancy, but hopefully we can keep it a polite exchange of opinions. --SVTCobra 23:08, 8 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

This is obsolete

As far as I can tell, it has been replaced by {{Commentary}} (unless it is still used for non-javascript browsers or some other quirk.) --InfantGorilla (talk) 15:08, 12 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
