I don't think Wikinews can publish a story written by a sportsperson's manager or coach. The conflict of interest policy here is much more strict than many other websites.
I have no reason to doubt any of the article submitted, but on the other hand the combination of the relationship between the subject and the reporter, the scantiness of the notes, and the lack of track record of the reporter give me no reason to believe it either.
I think it might be more appropriate to offer an interview (by email/phone?)
This would allow a reporter, if one is interested, to do some independent fact-checking, as well as put some flesh on the bones of the story (ask questions about ambitions, track record, emotions etc.)
Which club was (deleted) playing for when he was injured?

If a reporter has acted unethically that would indeed be a valid reason for deletion.
We don't know the identity of the reporter who wrote this article, nor anything about the circumstances of the interview, other than the notes given above.
There are a couple of ways to get in touch with volunteer site admins if you need help with someone posting private information on Wikinews. They are listed at Wikinews:Contact us : the OTRS address listed at the bottom may be the most appropriate if you the information you need to share with volunteers, or your name and e-mail address, are private or personal.
