Gnangarra
Welcome
editGnangarra, welcome to Wikinews! Thank you for your contributions; I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:
Our key policies - if you read anything, read these!
- Wikinews:Neutral point of view - tell every side to a story in a fair and balanced way
- Wikinews:Cite sources - everything in a Wikinews article must be sourced
Here a few pointers to help you get to know Wikinews:
- Wikinews:Introduction - overview of the site
- Wikinews:Writing an article - how to write and publish a complete article
- Wikinews:Content guide - what's suitable for Wikinews
- Wikinews:Contents - the contents page.
There are always things to do on Wikinews:
- Existing articles need expanding and checking for spelling and mistakes
- The front page lead articles often need updating
- Developing stories need finishing and publishing
- Discussions need your input
- And of course, stories need writing!
By the way, you can sign your name on Talk pages using four tildes (~~~~), which produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, you can ask them at the water cooler or to anyone on the Welcommittee, or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome! FellowWikiNews (W) 15:44, 24 July 2006 (UTC)

Melbourne Derby
editthanks for the quick follow-up, Gnangarra. it's absolutely ok to remove tags urself after addressing the concerns raised in them. and it's nice to see articles on topics infrequently covered here on wikinews. — Doldrums(talk) 08:02, 7 November 2006 (UTC)
- I other words, publish the story Gnangarra. -Edbrown05 08:13, 7 November 2006 (UTC)

updates
editcreating a new article is the better idea, particularly if there's enough material for atleast a short article. u can link to the old article in the new one by using the {{wikinews}} tag in a Related news section. if there isn't enough material to warrant a new article, u can add to today's Shorts - a compilation of brief reports for the day.
the idea is that Wikinews articles, once published, are historical documents reporting on what's known at the time of publication, and are left unchanged then on. a day (stretching to two) has been the "cutoff" period used. — Doldrums(talk) 12:14, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
RE: Horse flu
editThanks for your comments. Your article looks good also and covers the issue from another angle. I am not too sure that publishing needs to be held up but if more information comes out tonight it may be a good idea to add it. I can't think of anything to add at this stage - Cartman02au (Talk)(AU Portal) 06:25, 28 August 2007 (UTC)
Great job on the Horse flu article. -- IlyaHaykinson 08:55, 28 August 2007 (UTC)

Hi. There are improvements called for by review of this article. See review comments on the article talk. --Pi zero (talk) 23:01, 29 October 2011 (UTC)
- Sorry I'm being so slow with the article; granted, we're shorthanded at the moment, but I'd be moving on it a bit faster than this if I could. It's a technical problem on my end, you might say: We're in the middle of a multi-day power outage here (along with maybe half a million other people in New England), and I only get to access the internet for a few hours twice a day. :-( --Pi zero (talk) 12:13, 31 October 2011 (UTC)
