Frankie Roberto
Welcome
editFrankie Roberto, welcome to Wikinews! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:
Our key policies - if you read anything, read these!
- Wikinews:Neutral point of view - tell every side to a story in a fair and balanced way
- Wikinews:Cite sources - everything in a Wikinews article must be sourced
Here a few pointers to help you get to know Wikinews:
- Wikinews:Introduction - overview of the site
- Wikinews:Writing an article - how to write and publish a complete article
- Wikinews:Content guide - what's suitable for Wikinews
- Wikinews:Style guide - how articles should look before publishing
- Wikinews:Contents - the contents page.
There are always things to do on Wikinews:
- Existing articles need expanding and checking for spelling and mistakes
- The front page lead articles often need updating
- Developing stories need finishing and publishing
- Discussions need your input
- Audio Wikinews could always use more contributors
- And of course, stories need writing!
By the way, you can sign your name on Talk pages using four tildes (~~~~), which produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, you can ask them at the water cooler or to anyone on the Welcommittee, or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome! - Brian McNeil / talk 18:57, 29 November 2005 (UTC)
Hi
editWell, I hope you stick around and keep contributing to the site, I've not seen your article as I'm in Europe and when I'm working I keep an eye out for bad vandalism and new users needing a welcome. :) I hope the above links are useful in getting an idea about how to contribute. Brian McNeil / talk 17:33, 1 December 2005 (UTC)
Thanks for the article!
editThe photo is cool! Could you answer some questions I asked at Talk:Stars pose for ITV ice-skating show (UK)? I've also marked the article as original reporting because we count photojournalism as original! - Amgine | talk en.WN 22:55, 12 January 2006 (UTC)
- This whale article is great. Please continue to report on this. I am also watching it live right now and am very concerned. You are doing a good job and I hope this article ends up being very informative. Keep up the good work. DragonFire1024 is Jason Safoutin 14:44, 21 January 2006 (UTC)

Accreditation!
editCongratulations, your request for accreditation has been approved! Please contact MrMiscellanious regarding an accreditation image to be printed. - Amgine | talk en.WN 17:59, 21 February 2006 (UTC)
Article IDs vs. names
editYou could try to explain the article ID idea on meta, where MediaWiki developers hang out. It'd be good if such people muse about the idea for a couple miniutes, as there could be related changes for totally unrelated purposes/projects. Of course, you might also read the feature request and extensions lists to see if it exists. :) Nyarlathotep 16:30, 25 February 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for the suggestion. I asked a question on the Mediawiki developers mailing list... Frankie Roberto 23:20, 25 February 2006 (UTC)
Welcome
editWikinews desperately needs more gutsy reporters; please give the project as much time as you can spare. Neutralizer 23:41, 27 February 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks! Indeed I will. I'm actually planning to do a little experiment in taking some dedicated time to do original reporting - but more on that later when I have a bit more confirmed... Frankie Roberto 23:43, 27 February 2006 (UTC)
Care for a cuppa? --Brian McNeil / talk 17:53, 14 May 2006 (UTC)
- A virtual cuppa, eh?, how does that work then... ;-) Thanks very much - Earl Grey if you have it... Frankie Roberto 18:01, 14 May 2006 (UTC)
Congratulations
editCongrats, you are now a Wikinews Administrator! You have the glorious, highly rewarding job of cleaning up after vandals and being responsible for page deletions :-). Thanks for volunteering for the position, and good luck. -- IlyaHaykinson 06:48, 16 May 2006 (UTC)

Secret Cabal mesage: There is no cabal!
Rfda
editThis is a message to inform you that I have added every administrator to the Rfda section on WN:A. This is not personal and I feel as if the community, who did not have the option of voting for or against most of the administrators, should be able to choose who they want to be in charge. I also want to say that I value everyones work on this site and I know that everyone does their best. I hope that none of you will take this personally and I hope that all of us will continue to work together. Jason Safoutin 12:14, 27 May 2006 (UTC)

- I take it you just dont give a damn how you make newcomers feel either? Wazzawazzawaz 15:54, 20 June 2006 (UTC)
- Hi Wazzawazzawaz, I'm not quite sure why you're going around trying to tell us all jokes... We're mostly interested in writing news stories here - what kind of things do you think we should be covering? Frankie Roberto 16:01, 20 June 2006 (UTC)
- You know, at this point I have just given up trying to change you. If you really want to hear the joke, got to MessedRocker to hear it. Wazzawazzawaz 16:06, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

BBC
editintresting article :) Brian | (Talk) | New Zealand Portal 08:09, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
- Hehe, yes. It's good to be able to promote Wikinews and other sites like this. How are things in New Zealand? Frankie Roberto 09:09, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
- This is just great Frankie. Thank you so much for doing it. How did you get in contact with the BBC? --Deprifry|+T+ 10:50, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
- I just proposed the idea to them via e-mail.
- I've had quite a few suggestions of stories to cover come in via e-mail, so I'll try to post up some of them in case anyone else wants to take a look. Frankie Roberto 11:24, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
- This has to be the best, and most out-of-the blue idea about promoting wikinews that I've ever seen, it's brilliant and I applaud you managing to get them interested. If you can promote the idea that anyone can write here then the diary and series of articles should dramatically increase UK contributors. I believe we have to interview you in IRC afterwards to do a wikinews article on "one writer's foray behind 'enemy lines'" ;-) --Brian McNeil / talk 19:30, 27 June 2006 (UTC)
- Hi Brian - thanks for your message. It was really interesting from a personal point of view and really good to promote Wikinews. Incidentally, I also did a short interview for BBC 5 Live (radio station) for Monday night's pods and blogs show, which I think you can listen to online... Frankie Roberto 17:59, 28 June 2006 (UTC)
Hi Frankie! Not sure if you check this page anymore, but we have another BBC proposal that we are working on and need input as well as people to add to the proposal which will eventually be sent to the BBC news. I hope that you can help, or give use some discussion on the proposal. DragonFire1024 (Talk to the Dragon) 21:46, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
In future, please be more specific then permission given by photographer. Bawolff ☺☻ 03:51, 26 January 2007 (UTC)
New Policy has users up in smoke
editHello. I am not sure if you check this page anymore, but I thought you might be interested as to what is going on here at Wikinews: Wikinews:Image use policy/New wikimedia policy action plan. I am outraged as well as others...do you have an opinion? DragonFire1024 09:50, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
Long time
editHope to see you back some day. DragonFire1024 06:58, 11 May 2007 (UTC)

Accreditation Expiration
editGreetings, I wanted to let you know that our policy regarding accreditation has recently changed slightly. Specifically we've enacted an automatic expiration of accreditation after 2 years. You can very easily "re-up" your accreditation should you choose to, but at this point in time you're on the Inactive list. As such your accreditation will automatically be revoked on March 15th unless you request otherwise. Currently, posting to the following thread will keep your accreditation. At a later date, all Accredited reporters will be put in for that "re-up", at which time you'll be notified. Thank you, and should you have any questions, feel free to contact me on my talk page. --ShakataGaNai ^_^ 20:33, 4 March 2010 (UTC)
