single-sourced articles

please make sure u use aleast two sources in an article. multiple sources are helpful in providing independent confirmation of events, ensuring a wider range of povs are incorporated, and importantly, are also useful, even required, for copyright reasons - an article based solely on one source, even if it is completely rewritten, can be considered a copyvio, as it substantially reproduces the same content. compiling information from multiple sources removes this problem. Public domain of Cuban media photos

Why do you believe photographies by Cuban media outlets are in the Public Domain? It says "© Copyright Juventud Rebelde" at the bottom of their page. --+Deprifry+ 16:48, 13 August 2006 (UTC)

In fact, the U.S. Copyright Office specifically lists Cuba as a nation the United States, through Berne, the WTO, a bilateral agreement from 1903 and the Universal Copyright Convention, has copyright relations to. --+Deprifry+ 17:00, 13 August 2006 (UTC)

Re: Adminship

As Wikinews:Administrators says, all u need to be an admin is a month's editing on wikinews & the community's trust. u already have the former, i think, and the way to test for the latter is a RfA. u can either nominate urself or someone else can nominate you. listing significant contributions u've made to wikinews (either articles or project-related stuff) in the nomination is one way to let people who've not come across you much on wikinews to get to know about you. getting familiar with Wikinews policies (and, i personally think) Wikipedia policies is a very useful thing if u r looking to becoming an admin.

do note that "adminship is no big deal" and u can be a significant contributor to wikinews without ever becoming an admin. adminship is helpful and is required, if u r interested in doing certain chores such as deleting, protecting and blocking - all of which admins can only do only as per policy and which cannot be used to prevail in a editorial or other dispute. more on this here. cheers, Doldrums 09:51, 20 September 2006 (UTC)

I used to admin a Wikia (acecombat), so I know some admin features. Any questions, ask on my talk page. And the MediaWiki (Allmessages) namespace is for that stuff like (From Wikinews) or the (Aritabition Message), right? Thunderhead(talk) 23:33, 29 September 2006 (UTC)

What happened was Johan Boyden from the CPC contacted me earlier this week and asked me about how to get interviewed for Wikinews. I told him I could do that and I used your questions as a template (I actually didn't realize you'd done all the interviews to date or I would have consulted you) added two questions aimed directly at Communist candidates, and asked him to have the candidates send me the responses so I could code them. So far I've gotten two. I hadn't realized you'd already tried to contact them - don't know if your messages go to them or not. Anyway, hope I haven't stepped on any toes. No, no, no. Please, any time you want to "step on toes", step away. The more interviews the better, I don't care who gets it done.

I contacted all the candidates (or, I think there were five Greens that weren't nominated by the time I sent out to them, but almost all the candidates, from every party). You'd think there would have been more, even if they just had an assistant answer as them. Basically, what's linked to from that template is the only people who replied. There were a few others that replied, but they just sent generic, unstructured biographies that I couldn't salvage into the default format.

I think it would have helped if I had sent to each fringe party individually. I sent to the LIB/PC/NDP/GRN candidates individually, but FCP/FREE/COMM/LIB/CFR/IND all as one.

WN:WM2008

I'm looking for people interested in attending Wikimania 2008 in Alexandria in their capacity as accredited reporters. What would be required is any presentation materials you can help on, sitting on a panel for questions from the floor, and a workshop to introduce non-wikinewsie Wikimedians to editing on the project.

For this I'm trying to rustle up some input from major news outlets that can be considered to have an editorial policy close enough to that of Wikinews that we can work with/for them. That includes CBC and the BBC. Obviously if I can persuade CBC to become involved and possibly sponsor an attendee they'd want someone from Canada. What I have my fingers crossed that we can arrange is them covering the costs of accommodation and flights to get there. In exchange I'd expect them to want an article or two on things like the keynote speeches and photos to go with them.

Accreditation Expiration

Greetings, I wanted to let you know that our policy regarding accreditation has recently changed slightly. Specifically we've enacted an automatic expiration of accreditation after 2 years. You can very easily "re-up" your accreditation should you choose to, but at this point in time you're on the Inactive list. As such your accreditation will automatically be revoked on March 15th unless you request otherwise. Currently, posting to the following thread will keep your accreditation. At a later date, all Accredited reporters will be put in for that "re-up", at which time you'll be notified. Tireless Contribution

With all due motivation and enthusiasm, I have been trying to develop Wikinews. I regret to say this but review's are discouraging me at any go. I require your guidance and experience but why do you seem to be so arrogant. After 3 days, having received no comment I have put two of my articles under publish Cricket World Cup: Bangladesh defeated Afghanistan by 105 runs, Demolition of Hindu temples in the US , wrote on the wall ' Get Out ' condemnation around.
