Not done I'd be more inclined to nominate this for deletion than anything else. --SVTCobra 11:39, 10 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
btw, you would never be able to give a compelling reason.

Don't tempt me. --SVTCobra 13:08, 10 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
I would love to see you try.

At the moment it seems useless and harmless. However, is it meant to eventually be part of MediaWiki:Recentchangestext? --SVTCobra 13:21, 10 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

no. Neither the content, nor the template will be a part of it. The content is for the idea of {{admin dashboard}}, which something admins would always have on every page, of cource, they can opt-out. The template, however, it to test code for new templates before actually putting it out there -- in other words, something like sandbox for templates, without {{sandbox}} message being displayed; something very specific in purpose only to test templates as compared to almost anything that a sandbox is used for.

OK. But that makes me more confused as to why you want to have it protected. If I did so, you'd be locked out from modifying this template. --SVTCobra 13:43, 10 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
This is similar to {{votings}}, which is semi-protected for editing and fully protected for moving (although in this case, perhaps semi-protection from moving would make sense?). --Pi zero (talk) 13:53, 10 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
But it is a project, no? If implemented then protect. But while it's a project then everyone should be able to contribute. --SVTCobra 14:04, 10 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
Make protected template asks only for protection against renaming; not editing. It would be pointless to rename this template, and that protection would make sure others can still edit it. The reason for creating make protected was to request page renaming protection after I publish an article.

I was going to ask what the purpose of move-protection would be, but on second thought I'm more inclined to ask what the purpose of this template is? From the history, it appears to be a sort of template sandbox. --Pi zero (talk) 15:11, 10 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
Yes, it is. It is a template for testing purpose -- so that one could test a template before putting it out there. Like the beta version of the template -- also, when the template is not ready (better say incomplete) to be out there, just like the admin dashboard. I know I should be working on the dashboard, but again, there is no "copius free time" this semester.

Looking at other sisters, some of them have a template sandbox called Template:Sandbox (Wikiquote and Wikisource use this name), but here atm we're using that name for the template that generates the standard header for Wikinews:Sandbox. At least two sisters (Wikibooks and Wikipedia) have a template sandbox called Template:Template sandbox. --Pi zero (talk) 02:44, 12 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
this one is for “testing a template” and personally I can not think of a better self explanatory name. (But maybe it is something that others don’t feel, and that is why this discussion is happening) For the record, I was unaware of those two templates on sister projects, maybe because it is such an ill-thought concept of naming, hugely influenced by the original sandbox that I might not have ever guessed. Naming should be independent, out of reach of possible influence of other namings, so that each one is well thought, and feels obvious.

I remember on various projects having trouble finding the template-space sandbox page. Iirc, of the projects I looked at, only one of them had a sandbox header that specified what page to use for experimenting with templates. If we settle on this name, perhaps we should add such a link to {{sandbox}}. --Pi zero (talk) 04:23, 12 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
