Remove 'the' as in 'the boycotts of', because there were withdrawals by other nations that Wikipedia considers boycotts; in the article 1988 Summer Olympics, for example, Nicaragua, Ethiopa, Albania, Seychelles and Madagascar did not attend for separate reasons (not responding to invitations, financial concerns) which could be seen as boycotts. --JJLiu112 (talk) 05:38, 25 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

Correct the sentence to as follows: "North Korea participated in the boycotts of the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles and 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul." --JJLiu112 (talk) 05:40, 25 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
As it is -- this will be marked   Not done because it is unclear to me what the request is about. Provide a diff to make it clear. Right now, it is suggesting to add additional "and 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul." in the sentence which violates the archival policy.

Ok then, can you add a correction like in Serbian Orthodox Church elects new Patriarch Porfirije which clarifies North Korea boycotted the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles, and 1988 Olympics in SEOUL, not LA? --JJLiu112 (talk) 06:00, 25 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
Oh, okay, now it makes sense. 1988 Summer Olympics were in Seoul, not Los Angeles -- it was in Los Angeles in 1984. Though the mistake was the missing ", and" (ie, and 1988 Summer Olympics, and in Los Angeles), it changes the meaning of the sentence -- and so I feel this does not qualify for {{editprotected}}, this will need a {{correction}}. I will ask @Green Giant: to have a look once, if he feels we should add "and" to cover up the blunder, or to issue a correction. Flagging the discussion for time-being.

Ok, to summarise my request: I would like to add a correction, because North Korea participated in the 1984 and 1988 Olympics, the former in Los Angeles, the latter in Seoul. --JJLiu112 (talk) 13:40, 25 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Acagastya, JJLiu112: Perhaps the correction in this case could be:

Correction — July 27, 2021

The article states that North Korea boycotted the 1988 Summer Games in Los Angeles. This is incorrect, the 1988 Summer Games took place in Seoul. North Korea did however boycott the 1984 Summer Games in Los Angeles.

If there's no objection to this, I can add the notice, though surely the wording here could be adjusted. —chaetodipus (talk · contribs) 08:13, 27 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
