@SVTCobra: Do you see the later date on the template as an argument against adding? Seems like it could be for. Plus, this doesn't have a different infobox that one would be removing. --Pi zero (talk) 12:07, 9 May 2018 (UTC)

Philosophically, I believe we archive and protect articles to preserve them as intact as possible. And, yes, the fact that a particular template didn't exist when the article is a solid argument, imho. But it goes deeper. We don't add photos to articles in the archive, so why infoboxes? They don't aid in navigation because the infobox will only show the most recent articles for the category, not articles from that era.

As a practical matter, I am also against the constant tinkering with the archives. What if next year, someone creates {{Wimbledon}}? Are we to yet again get another {{editprotected}} request to replace {{tennis}}? Or maybe someone feels that Roger Federer himself deserves an infobox. --SVTCobra 14:45, 9 May 2018 (UTC)
