Johnston image

edit

An image of Johnston would be preferable to be added to this article, however, I do not know the copyright status of BBC images.

Thanks,

In this case you'd actually have to ask the BBC for permission. I suspect they'd give it under these circumstances, but you can't just copy the picture. --Brian McNeil / talk 21:03, 12 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
I am not sure how they issue their content. Some is fair use some is not and here is how I know that: [1] but I am not sure how to tell which images apply to this license. DragonFire1024 21:12, 12 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
that license is only for the stuff here. o/w their content is copyrighted. wonder if a screenshot of Johnston reporting from Gaza would be ok for fair use. –Doldrums(talk) 21:16, 12 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
Well if their video media is under the license above then a screenshot would be fair use...under that license. DragonFire1024 21:19, 12 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use is *despite* any licences. It's fair use if you take if from "standard" pages about him, i.e. his profile, homepage, etc. You'll only have issues claiming fair use if you take it from another *news* article about him. By comparison, wikipedia might have trouble using photos from another encylopedia like source, but they can claim fair use for a photo from a news article. Yes, it's true the corperate publishing world does not use "fair use", and finds licenses for everything, but this is for particular reasons which simply don't apply when you can remove the content as easily as here. But, if you still can't find one, just email his family. Nyarlathotep 02:39, 13 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
