Goal edit

Are you aiming for something similar to this? Uncle G 12:17, 27 May 2005 (UTC)Reply

Image edit

Are you planning on taking a photograph? Even this sort of picture would be better than nothing. Uncle G 12:17, 27 May 2005 (UTC)Reply

  • I see that the answer is "yes". ☺ Uncle G 00:59, 7 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Does anyone else use the PPCs other than apple and all three consonls (Xbox 360, N revolution, PS3)? Does IBM use it in some of thier servers and supercomputers and the like? ~The bellman | Smile 03:37, 7 Jun 2005 (UTC)

According to the POWER Wikipedia page, IBM has used the PowerPC in (some of?) their RS/6000 workstations and AS/400 minicomputers. But (it seems) their use has since been replaced by the POWER 4 and 5 CPU's. So no, IBM no longer uses their PowerPC CPU's themselves. But the POWER and PowerPC architectures are still closely related. And the PPC remains popular in the embedded market, although it's the Motorola/Freescale parts that are used there. It is odd that Apple is switching away from PPC just when the three next-gen consoles are switching to it. There's going to be an awful lot of interest in the PPC and related technologies (Altivec, Cell, etc) over the next several years. Apple is going to miss out on it all. Imroy 19:06, 7 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Note on the report edit

Can you insert some note about the first hand report, here (in talk page) or on the note page? Just to tell how the reporting work. AnyFile 11:33, 9 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Sure. NGerda 14:43, Jun 9, 2005 (UTC)

Original reporting edit

NGerda attended the keynote speech of WWDC 2005 for Wikinews, via a Press Relations representative from Apple. While the wireless internet connection was on while I was waiting outside of the hall before the event, I was unable to provide a live report because the keynote hall didn't have any reception. I had access to the front rows of the press seats (which are in the front), where I was able to take pictures and write the story in a word processor on my computer before eventually finding a strain of wireless bandwidth after the event to upload the story to Wikinews.

  • I have been away for a while but one task I want to resume is fixing the image problems on articles, particularly in relation to images moving to Commons or being deleted at Commons. In this article there are two missing images that were deleted some years ago on Commons, for lack of source and/or quality. I've reviewed them and agree the image quality is not that great but they are very usable for the relatively small size in this article (and the fact that there is no reason to not accept that User:NGerda didn't take them). Additionally, the fact Steve Jobs is no longer with us makes it unlikely So, to avoid further complications, I have uploaded both of them here and suggest that the following replacements be made:
replace {{missing image|Image:WWDC 2.JPG|left|200px|thumb|Jobs demoing the Wikipedia Dashboard widget}}
with [[File:WWDC 2.JPG|left|200px|thumb|Jobs demonstrating the Wikipedia Dashboard widget]]
  • and
replace {{missing image|Image:WWDC 3.JPG|right|200px|thumb|Steve Jobs announcing the switch from PowerPC to Intel processors}}
with [[File:WWDC 3.JPG|right|200px|thumb|Steve Jobs announcing the switch from PowerPC to Intel processors]]
