This is the category for earthquakes.

Any earthquake of magnitude 6.0 or more is considered relevant; smaller earthquakes may be relevant but need some further reason, such as damage or casualties, or unusual size for the area of occurrence.

Almost all earthquake magnitudes are now given using the moment magnitude scale; a significant fraction of uses of the phrase "on the Richter scale" are mistakes.
