Wikinews talk:Arbitration Committee/2019 election

Which epoch does en.Wikinews use? edit

I always deemed the Common Era is in use here, in line with Wikipedia and Commons. Pi zero (t · c · b) causes me to doubt about it. Or, perhaps, “2000” is not a year but something else? Incnis Mrsi (talk) 18:56, 19 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

It's the time of day. Some would use 20:00 UTC. Cheers, --SVTCobra 19:01, 19 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
Wikinews:Style guide#Time addresses the colon. --Pi zero (talk) 19:53, 19 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
Yes, I know, but I still don't understand why we adopted that when every system generated timestamp uses the colon. --SVTCobra 20:15, 19 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
Settled long before I got here. On this sort of thing, given a choice between the sort of folks who set up en.wn and the sort who set up the wiki software, I'd bet on the first sort. --Pi zero (talk) 20:42, 19 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
Cool… omitted colon reminds me of the U.S. military; perhaps it was once caused by use of Morse code or maritime flag signalling. Incnis Mrsi (talk) 09:36, 20 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

"relevant sub-section below" edit

There are no candidates yet. This is normal? Darkfrog24 (talk) 14:26, 21 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

@Darkfrog24: There are seven nominees for the six slots, nominations have closed, and voting is open. There's been a question, ongoing for years, about whether the sitenotice message should link to the parent page with information about the election, or the page that has the actual nominations and voting on it. Perhaps I'll try a small adjustment to that now... <goes tinkering> --Pi zero (talk) 14:53, 21 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
Hmm. I tweaked the instructions page, I tweaked the nominations and voting page... but I'm not quite comfortable with the sitenotice bypassing the instructions. --Pi zero (talk) 15:05, 21 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
