- I think Wizardman's article is worth two more points than he thought; can someone doublecheck? Blood Red Sandman (Talk) (Contribs) 20:37, 28 January 2010 (UTC)
- The version he submitted was 60 characters short of being 5 points. SVT adding some more stuff afterwards bouncing it into the five point range. Normally we count the version that the user submitted, but 60 letters short is really close, so we might be able to count it as 5, I'm not sure how others feel on this. (I'm referring to the NBA one. the historian one is 5). Bawolff ☺☻ 23:15, 28 January 2010 (UTC)
- No, I meant the historian; the NBA thing dates to after my comment. Blood Red Sandman (Talk) (Contribs) 23:20, 28 January 2010 (UTC)
- I don't know how you guys are counting characters, but I didn't add any text; I added image credit and a couple of categories. Cheers, --SVTCobra 23:23, 28 January 2010 (UTC)
- Categories are considered text sort of.
[[category:Foo]]
→ Foo, and image captions are counted as part of the text. Specificly, the following normalizations from wikitext are preformed, and then number of characters are counted:
- rm html
- rm headers (==foo==)
- rm bold/italic (''italic'' to italic)
- rm Date template
- put template parameters as text outside of template ({{foo|bar|baz}} to bar baz)
- remove templates (put params are outside)
- put linked text outside of external links
- remove external links
- Put images to their caption/alt text
- make links to text
- make category links to just category name
- rm excess whitespace
Then the characters are counted. Bawolff ☺☻ 23:38, 28 January 2010 (UTC)
- I belive PoeticVerse (talk · contribs) has a number of entries that aren't tallied in the points. I think this is down to articles written during the competition, but not listed as an entrant/using the hidden categories. --Brian McNeil / talk 18:17, 8 February 2010 (UTC)
I see the following for PoeticVerse:
Someone double-check and then those two can be added into the scores. Blood Red Sandman (Talk) (Contribs) 22:43, 22 February 2010 (UTC)
- Polish President Lech Kaczyński dies as his plane crashes in Russia - When it was first published, it was worth 11 points, but now it is a 31-pointer. Seeing that TUFKAAP and Tempo wrote a large part of the article and I expanded it today from a 27 to 31 pointer, I think I should get 15 points (11 points initially + 4 points today), TUFKAAP should get 12, since he added a little less text that I did and Tempo should get 4 for the 1k he added. I'll notify both of them shortly. Pmlineditor discuss 09:03, 11 April 2010 (UTC)
- Mmm, did I really make 1k of expansion to the article? Seems like most of the stuff i was doing was just expanding formatting, not a lot in terms of content. I'm not sure if i deserve four points (wouldn't that be for 1.4k?) so it seems like maybe three points would be more appropriate for me. Tempodivalse [talk] 13:49, 11 April 2010 (UTC)
- Dunno, it was approx 1.5k in raw text... maybe 3 would be a better idea. Pmlineditor discuss 15:28, 11 April 2010 (UTC)
- I'm fine with 12 unless someone has a feeling otherwise. It's not like I'm going to win the thing, but a few points doesn't hurt. --Patrick M (TUFKAAP) (talk) 15:38, 11 April 2010 (UTC)
- We've more or less agreed, so I have updated accordingly. Pmlineditor discuss 16:05, 11 April 2010 (UTC)
- It might have been 1.5 kb in raw text, but a lot of that is template formatting or wikilinks. In terms of actual content (which is what we count, not raw byte count) i didn't contribute that much, really only a paragraph or two. Tempodivalse [talk] 17:54, 11 April 2010 (UTC)
