Wikinews:Writing contest 2010/Standings/archives

(If your article has been reviewed and {{published}} and is not on the list, add it below) Do not add things to above list unless you also update the standings table. Photoessays are marked incorrectly by point counter script.

  • I think Wizardman's article is worth two more points than he thought; can someone doublecheck? Blood Red Sandman (Talk) (Contribs) 20:37, 28 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • The version he submitted was 60 characters short of being 5 points. SVT adding some more stuff afterwards bouncing it into the five point range. Normally we count the version that the user submitted, but 60 letters short is really close, so we might be able to count it as 5, I'm not sure how others feel on this. (I'm referring to the NBA one. the historian one is 5). Bawolff 23:15, 28 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • No, I meant the historian; the NBA thing dates to after my comment. Blood Red Sandman (Talk) (Contribs) 23:20, 28 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • I don't know how you guys are counting characters, but I didn't add any text; I added image credit and a couple of categories. Cheers, --SVTCobra 23:23, 28 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Categories are considered text sort of. [[category:Foo]]Foo, and image captions are counted as part of the text. Specificly, the following normalizations from wikitext are preformed, and then number of characters are counted:
  1. rm html
  2. rm headers (==foo==)
  3. rm bold/italic (''italic'' to italic)
  4. rm Date template
  5. put template parameters as text outside of template ({{foo|bar|baz}} to bar baz)
  6. remove templates (put params are outside)
  7. put linked text outside of external links
  8. remove external links
  9. Put images to their caption/alt text
  10. make links to text
  11. make category links to just category name
  12. rm excess whitespace

Then the characters are counted. Bawolff 23:38, 28 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I see the following for PoeticVerse:

Someone double-check and then those two can be added into the scores. Blood Red Sandman (Talk) (Contribs) 22:43, 22 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
