Welcome
editXaosflux, welcome to Wikinews! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:
Our key policies - if you read anything, read these!
- Wikinews:Neutral point of view - tell every side to a story in a fair and balanced way
- Wikinews:Cite sources - everything in a Wikinews article must be sourced
Here a few pointers to help you get to know Wikinews:
- Wikinews:Introduction - overview of the site
- Wikinews:Writing an article - how to write and publish a complete article
- Wikinews:Content guide - what's suitable for Wikinews
- Wikinews:Contents - the contents page.
There are always things to do on Wikinews:
- Existing articles need expanding and checking for spelling and mistakes
- The front page lead articles often need updating
- Developing stories need finishing and publishing
- Discussions need your input
- If your intreasted in audio recordings, Audio Wikinews could always more contributers
- And of course, stories need writing!
By the way, you can sign your name on Talk pages using four tildes (~~~~), which produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, you can ask them at the water cooler or to anyone on the Welcommittee, or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome! user:Bawolff 04:42, 31 December 2006 (UTC) P.S. Do you get your name from the computer program XaoS? user:Bawolff
- Hi @Bawolff: - thanks for the welcome - ~10 years later is a good time for a reply! My xaos is just a take on chaos. If you have a moment can you look at my last few contributions - there are some technical updates to fix upcoming tidy issues before the html renderer changes next year - there should be a couple of pending changes and 2 edit requests. Thank you, Xaosflux (talk) 03:56, 28 September 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks for helping with code updating here. Much appreciated. (I also did a few more pages along the same lines, since you've reminded us.) We keep being told things need updating for coming changes to the platform, but nobody's been telling us what needs updating; 'html renderer changes next year' is the most specific I've heard. Cool.
(I've seen your username around the sisterhood from time to time, I think, and never knew how to pronounce. I like it.) --Pi zero (talk) 12:50, 28 September 2016 (UTC)
- @Pi zero: This may help explain a little of it w:en:Special:PermaLink/741584196#Three_things_coming_up_for_2017. Xaosflux (talk) 13:08, 28 September 2016 (UTC)
