Welcome edit
Tom Burrell, welcome to Wikinews! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:
Our key policies - if you read anything, read these!
- Wikinews:Neutral point of view - tell every side to a story in a fair and balanced way
- Wikinews:Cite sources - everything in a Wikinews article must be sourced
Here a few pointers to help you get to know Wikinews:
- Wikinews:Introduction - overview of the site
- Wikinews:Writing an article - how to write and publish a complete article
- Wikinews:Content guide - what's suitable for Wikinews
- Wikinews:Style guide - how articles should look before publishing
- Wikinews:Contents - the contents page.
There are always things to do on Wikinews:
- Existing articles need expanding and checking for spelling and mistakes
- The front page lead articles often need updating
- Developing stories need finishing and publishing
- Discussions need your input
- Audio Wikinews could always use more contributors
- And of course, stories need writing!
By the way, you can sign your name on Talk pages using four tildes (~~~~), which produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, you can ask them at the water cooler or to anyone on the Welcommittee, or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome! --Brian McNeil / talk 22:27, 20 May 2008 (UTC)

Any sources for this? --Brian McNeil / talk 22:27, 20 May 2008 (UTC)
- The article was deleted as a {{hoax}} as the information did not appear to be factual. Cirt (talk) 22:37, 20 May 2008 (UTC)

- How do we know it wasn't a hoax? Adambro (talk) 22:48, 20 May 2008 (UTC)
- It is not a hoax at all, and it should be published here. It's not a highly emotional story, it's a just-the-facts-really story. OF MAJOR INTERNATIONAL IMPORTANCE. I know first-hand about it, because I was there at the time. --Tom Burrell (talk) 22:50, 20 May 2008 (UTC)
- Whilst I'd be delighted if Wikinews could break this story, I'm afraid I have to be suspicious because I doubt that we would be the first to find out about this. For the article to be credible you're going to have to provide solid evidence of your claims and as yet you haven't done so. Adambro (talk) 22:53, 20 May 2008 (UTC)
I am providing the facts on a story of major international importance.
- You are not providing any substantiating facts. You have not once said where you got the story, beyond calling it a "direct source". You say you were there, if so, please detail how and in what capacity. OR notes need many details, like who did you speak to, etc. etc. --SVTCobra 22:54, 20 May 2008 (UTC)
