Fraser Coast to field reserve grade side in Sunshine Coast Rugby Union

I was honestly uncomfortable with the single-source-ish-ness. Review comments. --Pi zero (talk) 01:59, 25 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

I had a similar difficulty with the other article. :-S  --Pi zero (talk) 02:49, 25 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
I had a feeling I was pushing both a bit. I'll email around and see what I can find out. --RockerballAustralia c 03:03, 25 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Wasn't sure if you wanted to hang on to these two, so userspaced (here and here). --Pi zero (talk) 23:19, 8 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

April 20 cannabis rallies

Brian and I will be attending a rally in Glasgow for Wikinews, and I'm hoping tommorris (talk · contribs) and Computron (talk · contribs) can get to the London event. Crtew and his students are going to dig to see what they can turn up in Indiana. The 'official' event in Australia (yes, apparently there's only one) is Nimbin, NSW. Can you make it? If not, could you try and ask around and see if there's anything going on at a more local level? We're questing for coverage around the world. The date's so synonymous with cannabis that there's bound to be something about. :)

Incidentally, do you know if it's currently university term-time in Australia? Hoping to get our UoW students on the case, too. BRS (Talk) (Contribs) 14:38, 8 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

It doesn't surprise me that Nimbin would be involved in this. I probably wont make it. 4 to 5 hour drive from where I am. I'll ask around and see what I can find out.
I think the UoW students get the week between Easter and ANZAC Day (April 25) off. May be a problem (?). --RockerballAustralia c 01:02, 10 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

Upload

You just uploaded File:Image.jpg; please rename it to something less generic. Microchip08 (talk) 22:46, 26 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

It also needs some kind of copyright tag; failure to add one makes it eligible for speedy deletion. Microchip08 (talk) 22:54, 26 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
Seems to me we can't host that image anyway, as our fair use policy doesn't allow material copyrighted by a competing news agency. It's the sort of thing one would email to scoop. --Pi zero (talk) 22:53, 26 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
What I've done in that past is upload for article verification then delete the offending images as soon as the article is published. Small change in practice purhaps? --RockerballAustralia c 22:59, 26 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
We can't be systematically temporarily hosting copyvios. This is one of the reasons scoop exists. --Pi zero (talk) 23:01, 26 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
If there's a technical problem with using scoop, that's something to mention to brianmc. --Pi zero (talk) 23:02, 26 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
One bouncer. Immediately let Brian know. Are you on the scoop list PiZero? --RockerballAustralia c 23:17, 26 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
Yes, I requested, and brianmc granted me, a scoop account so I can review OR, several years ago (I've lost track exactly), even though I'm not an accredited reporter. --Pi zero (talk) 23:53, 26 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

File:Uni vs Fraser Coast.pdf

Please consider using a free license for your notes; that way it will be eligible for hosting on Commons, and won't technically be fair use. Thanks, Microchip08 (talk) 09:53, 4 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi there. You have uploaded one or more images to Wikinews in the past, but it is missing important information. All images uploaded to Wikinews require both a source (who made the file) and licensing information: anything that doesn't have both is assumed to be copyrighted and therefore ineligible for usage on Wikinews. Please check your files and ensure that your files fit the image use policy. Images identified as such include, but may not be limited to, the following:

Scan.pdf has, I see, been uploaded to Commons as File:SCRU major semi 2013 notes.pdf; I've switched the links from the old name to the new one. If Commons were to decide to delete it, we'd want to upload it locally under the new name rather than the old one, since the new name is descriptive. --Pi zero (talk) 10:08, 23 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
hmmmm. It didn't occur to me to switch the links. I was using that file to play with one of the tools over at Commons. All seems good. :-). --RockerballAustralia c 11:02, 23 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Thanks

I really appreciate the help you've been able to provide lately with the review queue. --Pi zero (talk) 10:44, 22 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

No worries. :-) --RockerballAustralia c 22:44, 22 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Exclusive interviews with other news orgs

You'll notice last time I cut the video of an interview with someone else, and the quote from it in the article. My two concerns at that time were

  • the need to give credit to another news org for their exclusive, and
  • concern over possibly scooping them on their own interview, if they hadn't published it yet.

You've got two of them this time, I see, and I'm suspecting there may be even less evidence of who the interviews were with. This makes me uncomfortable. --Pi zero (talk) 13:15, 31 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Particularly, do we know what org was being given the interview, so we can give them credit; and do we know whether they've aired (or otherwise published) the material? --Pi zero (talk) 14:23, 31 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
Both Channel 7 and Win TV would covering this weekends game and filming these things with the coaches. Neither minded that I was filming along side them. I even made a point of checking. The next buliten for both Seven and Win is Monday, so presumably the respective reports will air then. As to who was asking the questions, I'm not sure. --RockerballAustralia c 16:25, 31 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
I guess we can run with it. If they complain, we can be apologetic and do our best not to do that again. --Pi zero (talk) 17:02, 31 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Published, but I wasn't sure about the identifications of who converted. Might be restorable if we catch it within the 24-hour horizon after publication? See review comments. --Pi zero (talk) 15:24, 13 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

Blocking vandals

Anyone who does major vandalism of a published article should be blocked. In this case, I blocked them, then investigated their cross-wiki record, concluded they weren't a serious user, and extended it to an indefinite block. --Pi zero (talk) 23:34, 18 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Being bothered by User:Pi zero

He is bothering me with rubbish each edit. He is never contributing. He deletes articles comments sites here, although the article is existing. Articles under development are clean up articles. I might not write about RB Leipzig. My started articles have interest and he says that other archived articles are which from amateur clubs, university clubs or something else. He wants to rename my name here and is not rename me. My articles are written after the style such as about other proven football match reports. He is psychic unable to name reasons. Please remove him from the board! He neither productive nor socially competent or educated, for a globally representative on public free sites. --Nikebrand (talk) 21:48, 6 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
