Caboolture have withdrawn from the rugby union competition on Australia's Sunshine Coast. From this season, they will play in the Brisbane suburban competition.
"The major reason we're moving is to open pathways for our junior players now that the [Sunshine Coast premier rugby side] are gone," said Andrew Gibbs, Caboolture seniors' president. "In Brisbane, they've got a rep team in which players will probably be seen a bit easier, to get to a premier team and then go on to play professional football."
With Caboolture's move to Brisbane, Rugby Union becomes the only sport with a dedicated Sunshine Coast competition without a Caboolture team present. The Sunshine Coast Rugby Union will now have to rewrite it's fixtures for this season.
