Odder
Welcome
editOdder, welcome to Wikinews! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:
Our key policies - if you read anything, read these!
- Wikinews:Neutral point of view - tell every side to a story in a fair and balanced way
- Wikinews:Cite sources - everything in a Wikinews article must be sourced
Here a few pointers to help you get to know Wikinews:
- Wikinews:Introduction - overview of the site
- Wikinews:Writing an article - how to write and publish a complete article
- Wikinews:Content guide - what's suitable for Wikinews
- Wikinews:Style guide - how articles should look before publishing
- Wikinews:Contents - the contents page.
There are always things to do on Wikinews:
- Existing articles need expanding and checking for spelling and mistakes
- The front page lead articles often need updating
- Developing stories need finishing and publishing
- Discussions need your input
- Audio Wikinews could always use more contributors
- And of course, stories need writing!
By the way, you can sign your name on Talk pages using four tildes (~~~~), which produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, you can ask them at the water cooler or to anyone on the Welcommittee, or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome! Thanks
editYep, a "fan"... the IP 67.53.130.69 corresponds to that of a user who has been indefinitely banned for abusive behaviour, abuse of multiple accounts, and using other accounts to avoid blocks on enWiki. Sigh... I appreciate the note, and am sorry it's disrupted WikiNews. --Ckatz 17:17, 26 November 2007 (UTC)
Comments namespace
editPlease remember the comments namespace does not have to comply with WN:NPOV, you may - at your discretion - censor some swearwords with things like <expletive deleted> or something like that, but please don't delete comments wholesale. --Brian McNeil / talk 10:49, 8 January 2008 (UTC)
ArbCom election
editI'm sorry, but as an election committee member I'm going to have to remove your vote. The voting requirements state that you had to have had at least 250 mainspace edits before July 1, and you seem to be short of the requirement. I regret to have to do it, but you do not seem to qualify for the vote. Mike Halterman (talk) 22:17, 25 July 2008 (UTC)
Article reviewed
editI reviewed your article and published it. Best, ♪TempoDiValse♪ 22:18, 25 December 2008 (UTC)
Accreditation Expiration
editGreetings, I wanted to let you know that our policy regarding accreditation has recently changed slightly. Specifically we've enacted an automatic expiration of accreditation after 2 years. You can very easily "re-up" your accreditation should you choose to, but at this point in time you're on the Inactive list. As such your accreditation will automatically be revoked on March 15th unless you request otherwise. Currently, posting to the following thread will keep your accreditation. At a later date, all Accredited reporters will be put in for that "re-up", at which time you'll be notified. Thank you, and should you have any questions, feel free to contact me on my talk page. --ShakataGaNai ^_^ 20:47, 4 March 2010 (UTC)
Apology
editI've written an apology, primarily directed at yourself, into the 'contentious' discussion on the Water Cooler.
But, it's things like this: "[...] the incident, late last month, where the image on our number one lead was deleted from commons — the single most prominent image on the main page, other perhaps than the banner across the top [...]" (emphasis added) which infuriate myself and other Wikinewsies who only casually use Commons.
Depending on timing, we could've ended up with a redlink on the main page for hours before someone who could fix it noticed. --Brian McNeil / talk 21:24, 16 September 2012 (UTC)
We haven't seen you.....
edit....in quite some time! You still around??--Bddpaux (talk) 16:00, 24 April 2024 (UTC)
