You could mention the dates the actual event will be occurring ... you know, if you wanted to. Mdotley 05:56, 12 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Uh, yeah. Right. So, you think I'm some sort of nitwit who knew the answer, and just decided to make a smart-aleck comment about the fact that it's not in the story. Did it occur to you that maybe I came here to look for that information? That, maybe, just maybe, I pointed out your lack because I didn't have the information, and came to WikiNews b/c, oh, I don't know, Wikimania is run by the WikiMedia Foundation, which also owns this website, and was irritated b/c the info isn't here?
I guess not. Mdotley (talk) 16:10, 31 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
The date was not set or known at the time of this article. The event did open on July 17. You can read about it here. Wikimania 2008 opens at Bibliotheca Alexandrina, Egypt--SVTCobra 16:33, 31 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
I appreciate the info, but that's completely irrelevant. I suggested that it might be a good idea to include the date in the article, and he replied "So, fix it!" That kind of snarky response is not the way to make friends for the project. (And if the exact date had not been set, yet, then that would have been good info to include, don't you think?) Sarcasm gets you nowhere. --Brian McNeil / talk 22:58, 7 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
The point is that we don't update stories with information that becomes later available. That is the job of an encyclopedia. Cheers, --SVTCobra 23:23, 7 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
