Talk:Sumo: Asashoryu wins New Year Grand Tournament

Latest comment: 15 years ago by InfantGorilla in topic Review

I was in tokyo for the final two days of the tournament. Some comments / notes i made during this time as part of the original reporting to help complete the news article.

  • final day was a sellout when i visited the stadium at 6.30am to purchase tickets the crowd was already 500+ in size with only 300-400 general admission tickets being available. Many disappointed people turned away as the ticket booth opened.
  • watched the final day championship bouts on television (as i couldnt get tickets).
  • Press crews outside Ryogoku interviewing crowds....when i asked them why they were there so early they said the interest in this tournament was extremely high.
  • Having been in Japan during previous tournaments the coverage in newspapers, TV was much stronger than previously.

Next time i hope a wikinews accreditation may help get access :) Bjornengelhardt (talk) 23:24, 25 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Review edit

Is there anything left of the original reporting? If not, the tag should be removed. --SVTCobra 01:36, 27 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

I glanced at the diffs. The only think I see DF removed was:
For Hakuho it was a disappointing end to a three-basho winning run.
In its context I don't see that it transgresses our neutrality policy. (But then I like to see words like thrilling, nail-biting, tedious, aggressive ... in sports reports, even at Wikinews.)

Well as stated above, some of it was just a tad too POV to be OR. But feel free to revert. me. DragonFire1024 (Talk to the Dragon) 11:28, 27 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
We have both given our opinions. No-one else cares (why should they care? it is one unexciting sentence.) So I will let the article stand. --InfantGorilla (talk) 21:24, 27 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
