"highest honor"
edithere's what the sources say:
- Fields Medal: "widely considered to be among the top honors".
- BBC: "discipline's top awards", "
- New Scientist: "world’s most prestigious prize for mathematics"
- Gaurdian: "discipline's most coveted prize"

- So, am I wrong saying it is "regarded as the highest honor in the field of mathematics."?--Steven Fruitsmaak (Talk) 13:11, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
- No, according to New Scientist and Gaurdian and Maybe, according to BBC & WP. :) Doldrums 13:17, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
refuses/rejects/declines in the title
editThey are mostly synonymous, but the first two conote conflict with prize agency. Unless there is clear evidence that such a conflict exists, I'd prefer that that title use the more neutral declines as in Russian mathematician declines Fields Medal
Interwiki link
editIt would be nice if an administrator could change the French interwiki link to [[fr:Le Russe Grigori Perelman refuse la médaille Fields]] There was a mistake with his name in the old title, and the redirect has been deleted.
