they're over reacting edit
if they only have to wear the overalls during detention, i don't understand what the problem is. the kids see it coming, if they do something to merit a detention, i don't understand why having to wear the detention-specific overalls is such an outrage. it's part of the punishment, and serves to maintain the uniforms. they're not being branded, they're not being painted, they're donning a labour-friendly uniform that identifies them as "work crew". in this day and age, easily established identification can be very helpful, even essential. the nzpta needs to lighten up and realize that punishments are there to maintain order, which is something that these overalls add to. if the kids don't want to wear them, they should do their best to avoid detention all together.

- Public schools have no authority to make any student wear anything NOT pertaining to the schools dress codes. Its like forcing a non-muslim to wear a head veil. And they are students, not prisoners. Detention is something that needs to be there, but as I said, you cannot punish a student by breaking laws. DragonFire1024 00:58, 5 April 2007 (UTC)
