Talk:Private mercenary group rebels against Russia, advances on Moscow

Update vs new article edit

It's being reported now[1] that Prigozhin has halted the advance on Moscow. Should the article be moved back to developing and updated or should a new article be drafted?

How are rapidly evolving stories like this handled at Wikinews?

Thanks,

Generally, we would not publish with such a major change to circumstances. We don't like to publish something that is out-of-date. I'd recommend updating for the latest developments (at the least the major ones). Cheers, SVTCobra 20:49, 24 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
Yeah. I really wish I'd had time this morning when this was fresh, but besides finishing my article I've not had time today. Heavy Water (talk) 04:06, 25 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
Another user has written an updated version, with the rebellion's end as its focal event, at Russia: Wagner Mercenary leader Yevgeny Prigozhin calls off march on Moscow, raises stability concerns. I've just not-ready'd it. Heavy Water (talk) 02:19, 27 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. I left a comment on their talk page letting them know they can use my content if needed. I might have time in a day or two to work on this but will let them finish the article if they want to. I'll have time to at least check in for messages should there be any questions about my content. I imagine that could be difficult to incorporate another's work into one's own for a news article. They'll basically need to first review my work for errors...
At any rate, hopefully one of us can get the story published. ツ

Updates edit

I have made several new changes and updates to the article, but I am currently unsure of the issues it may still have. There is still ample room for further development. Additionally, I am uncertain about the appropriate title. One suggestion could be: 'Private mercenary group rebels against Russia, ceases operations following negotiations'. Fresh? edit

So, is it still fresh? Asked42 (talk) 07:18, 30 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

Well, its focal event is stale, but there are more recent developments it can be gatwicked to. Heavy Water (talk) 15:29, 1 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
