Talk:NASA's Deep Impact probe strikes comet successfully
ok...I can throw a rock and hit a tree; so what? So far scientific research has done as much harm to society as good (think atom bomb, cluster bombs, fossil fuel energy production(pollution..duh),paxil, prozac, etc)..The really important thing, imo, is the human mentality behind and in front of and in control of the research. So the question here is "Why?" Paulrevere2005 4 July 2005 21:42 (UTC)
- Maybe the second paragraph, The experiment, intending to provide more information about the make up of comets, consisted of a 370 kg projectile being fired at the comet in order to observe and analyse the resultant impact. With information gleaned from the impact, the comet's general make-up can be established and more accurate hypotheses regarding how the Solar system and the universe came to be. answeres your question. Basicallly it is trying to shed light on two of humanity's most basic questions: Who are we? Where did we come from? -- Davodd | Talk 4 July 2005 22:06 (UTC)
- Ok, I'll buy that. Thanks. Paulrevere2005 5 July 2005 01:06 (UTC)
