The "English"/"UK" thing

Apparently only England and Northern Ireland are holding local elections in 2023, and the Northern Irish ones are scheduled for May 18. So these elections were only for English local governments. Heavy Water (talk) 01:04, 8 May 2023 (UTC)

Yeah, I may have messed up the article. I should not have assumed UK would have logically coordinated elections. SVTCobra 01:10, 8 May 2023 (UTC)

I believe the timing of elections are based on historical factors, e.g. when the council was first formed, with the devolved administrations in Scotland, Northern Ireland, etc having some say in the matter of frequency, with any overlap being coincidental.

I've added a new source to hopefully clarify the separation, as well as explain what the councillors are responsible for. I was forgetting that readers may not be familiar with UK politics.

I noticed from the edit summaries that there is a need to create archive links. Is there a guide about how to do this? No idea why, but I had imagined it was an automated process. CSJJ104 (talk) 14:06, 8 May 2023 (UTC)

User:ArchiveBot is enabled, but it is not adding archive links as far as I know. I use two sites for archives: archive.org and archive.is with the former being more likely to already have the source archived. As far as instructions, just follow the guidance on the sites.
