Title is wrong.
editThe title is wrong. The news is not about "common cold virus", it's about "human adenovirus 36" (AD36). Common cold is mentioned because catching AD36 and becoming obese is just like catching a common cold, i.e. obesity might be caused by a viral infection rather than a food problem. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 81.200.2.147 (talk • contribs) 05:24, 23 September 2010
- Hm. It's my understanding that, in practice, "cold" a.k.a. "common cold" is a somewhat vague mix of symptoms that can be caused by lots of different viruses. AD36 is both a common virus that can cause a cold, and a virus that can cause a common cold. The headline follows usual style by omitting any initial article, "A common cold virus may..." versus "The common cold virus may...", but only one of those works, and if the reader doesn't know the difference they'll learn which is intended from the lede. So I'm don't think the headline is deceptive. Mentioning AD36 in the title would not be usual headline practice, since most readers won't already know what that is; the headline should be maximally accessible to help the widest possible audience judge whether they want to read more.
