Issue..

There is a source published in Chinese. Please replace the source with an appropriate English source. Citing non-English sources is against the Wikinews:Cite sources policy. 2006nishan178713 (talk) 03:23, 29 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

You know the policy right? 2006nishan178713 (talk) 03:26, 29 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
I am not sure why you think that is a problem, @2006nishan178713:. There are other articles to corroborate the article, besides, we have native speakers on this project who can help us translate if what is being used from that source is indeed what the source claims. We don't 100% discourage foreign language news, moreover, it is quite valued when we can get the quotations in the original language. But what you might be totally overlooking is the lede mentions the news article was reported in that publication, and that is why it is important to cite it, in the sources, or at the very least, in the external links section.

@Acagastya I agree but the Wikinews:Cite sources policy states that Non-English sources must clearly identify the language using templates such as (Chinese) after the source template or use the lang parameter of the source template itself. When I saw the article there was no language identification with the source. The ident was later added at 11:29 UTC on 29 Nov, 21. https://en.wikinews.org/w/index.php?title=Chinese_police_arrest_escaped_North_Korean_convict&diff=4651499&oldid=4651433&diffmode=source

Anyways, have a good day 2006nishan178713 (talk) 11:19, 29 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
@2006nishan178713: yeah, so add |lang = zh to the {{source}} template, should not be much of a problem. I don't see how it missing out that parameter in template calls for "Please replace the source with an appropriate English source". We prefer having primary sources listed on the article.

when

edit

@Henrymyman: the article does not say *when* the said event took place. Please add that info.

@Acagastya: Apologies, I forgot. It's now been added.Henrymyman (talk) 11:18, 29 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Stabbing

edit

Shouldn't information about him stabbing the elderly woman also be included? This is relatively important for context. --Merrick919 (talk) 13:39, 2 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
