On Monday, the nominees for the 82nd annual Golden Globe Awards were announced by Mindy Kaling and Morris Chestnut at a live press conference event taking place at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California, United States.[1][2]
Comedian Nikki Glaser was announced to have been selected to host the event, which was scheduled to air live on Sunday, January 5, at 8 p.m. ET on CBS and Paramount+.[3] The announcement made Glaser the first woman to be selected to solo host the event in its history.
The 2024 Netflix musical crime-thriller film Emilia Pérez broke the record for the most Golden Globe nominations for a comedy or musical film, securing ten of them. The 2023 film Barbie and the 1972 film Cabaret were tied for the previous record in these categories, each earning nine nominations. Some of the awards that Emilia Perez has been nominated for include "Best Picture" for a musical or comedy and "Best Picture" for a non-English film. The film also earned acting nominations for its actresses Karla Sofía Gascón and Selena Gomez. [4][5]
Other contenders for awards included The Brutalist, with seven nominations, Conclave with six, and Anora and The Substance both with five. Additionally, the films Wicked, A Real Pain, Challengers and The Wild Robot each received four nominations.[6]
