Anyone remember when Joe said "It's patriotic to pay your taxes"?--KDP3 (talk) 20:47, 4 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

I think it's good that President Obama took responsibility for this. However, it worries me that only two weeks into his presidency, he already has to apologize for big mistakes.--JTornado (talk) 21:31, 5 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

your worries are petty. so they weren't properly vetted. big deal. - Imind (talk) 02:37, 6 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Geithner

edit

Why the dig at Geithner? United Nations salaries are tax free: since (unlike other countries) the IRS wants this money anyway, they could at least have the decency to send a letter to these few thousand employees explaining how to calculate these odd taxes.

I bet he is not the only one.

Why is the Secretary of Treasury the only one who was confirmed who did not pay taxes? It seems to me the Secretary of Treasury should be the first one to get the boot for not paying taxes. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 129.74.117.211 (talkcontribs)

Doubts on Obama's responsibility

edit

Before nominating the said withdrawees, was Obama aware that they had evaded taxes? If not, I see no reason why he should go ahead to accept taking rsponsibility for some persons' acts. He should simply accept their withdrawal as proof of a just democracy and transparency. It's no fault of his.Thank you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 41.190.224.242 (talk) 14:42, 9 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

In both Geitner and Daschle's cases, the Obama team discovered the problems and told them to fix them before their confirmations. I am not sure whether the Killefer issue was a surprise. --SVTCobra 15:09, 9 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
