It's a US Tradition, going back several years. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.5.3.223 (talk) 17:12, 23 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Both turkeys received a welcome which included a red carpet, and free passes to the park. - millions of people are living with less than a dollar a day, children are starving to death or working in slavery, and this two turkeys walk for free on the rep carpet into this park, this tradition is kind of sick.... god bless america! cheers --193.153.50.251 21:31, 22 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

I agree, I'm in Canada and we don't pardon turkey's. This is the most absurd thing I've ever heard of. FellowWiki Newsie 23:22, 22 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
It may be silly, but it has been done every year since 1989 and has its origins much further back. See: National Thanksgiving Turkey Presentation. --SVTCobra 23:29, 22 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
We've also had a tradition where there's a church in DC that every president has either been a member of or has attended services at. Are you gonna tell me whenever we elect the first Jewish/Athiest/Muslim president that they oughta put up with a couple mornings there "Out of Tradition" too? Not to say it isn't a nice gesture, but a lot the stuff Bush's done lately has been a lot of 'nice gestures' without substance. --Jigsaw (Talk) 02:09, 23 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
Huh? What do you mean by "put up with a couple mornings there 'Out of Tradition'"? --SVTCobra 02:16, 23 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
Eh, attending services there. Not trying to spark a debate on religious tolerance or anything, just pointing out the flaw in using tradition as an excuse. ;) --Jigsaw (Talk) 02:45, 23 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Just to point out, the carpet and such wasn't at the white house, it was down in Florida... *shrugs*. It's a harmless tradition, takes about five minutes, and makes kids happy. Lyellin 05:35, 23 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Disney World edit

They got sent to Disney World. The honor. Perhaps they'll have a rendezvous with their feathered brother Donald Duck. --Smackdat (talk) 13:55, 24 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
