May Be Disputing This Claim

edit

I'm a little tempted to dispute this claim, because my great-uncle and great-aunt, who were married for 62 years until her death in 1986, had over 100 descendants while they were both still living. I don't know what the exact number is, but I'm willing to track down my cousins and get the documentation. LOL Raphael s 16:48, 11 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

This is the reason for overpopulation in the world.

edit

This feat is not to be praised. In my opinion, it is quite notorious. Why in the world would families have so many kids? A woman on average bears nearly two children. I fall under this category (I am still a child under the age of 15) since I am one of two kids. What compels this insane family to have such a ridiculous number of kids? Has science not made such incredible strides in birth control? Some countries limit the number of kids a family can have while this family is absurd and abuses there freedom from this law. People like this are the reason for overpopulation and quite frankly their acts are disgraceful. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.82.192.36 (talk) 18:49, 12 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

I know a woman that recently turned 44 in april. She has 21 grandkids all under the age of 11. I wonder if that is some kind of record? Does anyone know?

My grandparents had 97 grand children. Those 97 are grand children who were not great grandchildren nor great great grandchildren. My grandfather use to joke he wanted 100. He never mad it with grandchildren. Now he has 100s of great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

I believe wiki should remove this story and someone should do more research. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 173.19.35.14 (talkcontribs) 11:29, 29 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

  • It's a rather fluffy item, with no authority sited for the claim that this may be a record. It looks like the claim came from a single source, and that was dubious since that source sounds sensationalist and the other source provided appears to directly suggest it wasn't a record. The article does at least avoid making a definite claim — it says "possibly record holders".
  • When we publish something with an error of substance, provided it isn't legally problematic (libel, or copyright violation), we handle it with a {{correction}} notice rather than actually removing the content.
I'll see if I can ascertain any more at this late date (both source links are broken), and then further consider options. --Pi zero (talk) 12:17, 29 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
I've issued a (cautiously worded) {{correction}}. --Pi zero (talk) 12:55, 29 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
