Good Lord, a 'Food' category --> news recipees anybody?! -Edbrown05 16:18, 9 October 2005 (UTC)
- topic: Food presentation
- "the Iraqi pie" --> an odd number of slices by means of a pizza pie cutter
- start from middle and roll pizza cutter to the fringe
- repeat 2 more times
- This makes a mess of the middle, but the fringes are happy.

Move articles to a new category
editPer the deletion discussion, isn't there consensus to move this to Category:Food and drink as a sub-cat of Category:Health? --Brian McNeil / talk 14:31, 12 May 2011 (UTC)
- There was a sense in that direction, yes (here).
- I'm certainly in favor of merging the two into one under Category:Health.
- However, can we find a better name than "Food and drink"? That sounds like cuisine; indeed, it's not entirely impossible to imagine we could —at some point— have a Category:Cuisine under Category:Culture and entertainment. --Pi zero (talk) 16:19, 12 May 2011 (UTC)
- Your suggestion is, most definitely, encyclopedic. --Brian McNeil / talk 16:47, 12 May 2011 (UTC)
- Food (and not so much drink) are health, politics and business issues, until you imbibe purely for pleasure, when it becomes cuisine. Nobody writes much cuisine news at Wikinews, but there is no reason why they shouldn't. How about
- Category:Nutrition and
- Category:Cuisine ? I think they suit a serious news site.

- Although the word "cuisine" covers the culture-and-entertainment variants of both food and drink, "nutrition" is really only the health variant of food.
- I worry about a category
- (1) if it's difficult to decide, consistently, whether any given article should belong to the category.
- (2) if it's hard to remember to consider the category, when categorizing a given article that might properly belong to it.
- I'm a little worried about "cuisine" and "nutrition" based on (2). It may be advisable to have a single category for the health variants of food and drink, lest separating them present difficulties for (1). --Pi zero (talk) 08:07, 15 May 2011 (UTC)
- I worry about a category
- I agree that my suggestions will be hard to remember. The nutrition suggestions was meant to cover, for example, health, famine, drought and bread price riots, but on hindsight, it probably doesn't. We still need better names, and my suggestions don't cut it. While I am happy to see a merger of food with drink, I don't think outright deletion is appropriate, nor is a category description that excludes drought, famine, alcohol taxes or the Common Agricultural Policy. --InfantGorilla (talk) 13:35, 18 May 2011 (UTC)
- Given that this has now been made a subcat of Health and there hasn't been further discussion for well over a year, I am removing the flag - Cartman02au (Talk)(AU Portal) 07:13, 11 July 2012 (UTC)
