The Community Wishlist Survey 2017
Hey everyone,
The Community Wishlist Survey is the process when the Wikimedia communities decide what the Wikimedia Foundation Community Tech should work on over the next year.
The Community Tech team is focused on tools for experienced Wikimedia editors. You can post technical proposals from now until November 20. Bypassing the cache
I tried the Ctrl or Shift key + F5 key or Reload button in both Internet Explorer and Google Chrome as said in w:Wikipedia:Bypass your cache. However, the pages do not reset to the latest versions. Instead, the available options for Wikinews are either deleting Files from the browser or clicking the "Refresh"/"Purge" button or the UTC clock link (if enabled). Why won't the project's server allow the "bypassing the cache" method to work, i.e. why doesn't the Ctrl+F5 method work? --George Ho (talk) 01:00, 26 November 2017 (UTC)
- @George Ho: that is browser dependent. For Mozilla Firefox, it works fine. I am not sure about the other browsers. It has nothing to do with the site. Cache is not saved on the server side, after all. It is saved locally.
•–• 13:59, 28 November 2017 (UTC)- @George Ho, Acagastya: There is more than one sort of "cache" involved. Ctrl+F5 is Firefox for purging cache, iirc; I think it even purges cached javascript. However, that's about purging stuff that Firefox has cached. There is also stuff that the wikimedia servers cache, which is what gets purged by clicking the UTC clock link, or by adding
