At least 55 killed by Hurricane Katrina; serious flooding across affected region
Hurricane Katrina has now reportedly caused over fifty deaths in Mississippi. Thirty people were killed in the resort of Biloxi, while twenty more casualties occurred across the rest of the state's Harrison County. Meanwhile, western New Orleans has been severely flooded due to the breaking of a levee on 17th Street.

Sydney prepares for Forbes Conference and 30A protest
Sydney is today preparing for the Forbes Global CEO Conference and 30A Protest. A major police operation is occurring in the vicinity of the Sydney Opera House, where the conference is scheduled to occur. The Opera House forecourt has been closed to the public, and barricades have been set up down Maquarie St and across the Botanic Gardens.

Little Caesar's Pizza to open eight stores in Ireland
US pizza chain giant Little Caesars is to open eight stores in Ireland and has plans to increase that to 45 over the next few years. The company has signed a ten year deal with Doughmaster to support Little Caesars franchisees in Ireland.
