My apologies for Markie being blunt, it is just Wikinews being cautious and trying to be a well-behaved Internet site that respects other people's copyrights. Links to where images come from help people who've had a bit practice checking copyright verify we're safe to use them. For example, there's no way we can use images from AP, Reuters, or the BBC - but if someone uploads an image on flickr that they took themselves we can usually use it. There may be cases where a trading of emails is required to get permission - and it can seem a pain - but we want to be able to say we've not infringed others works so we can protect our own. --Brian McNeil / ^talk 15:39, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
