Question (from IRC): how much can a reviewer do before they disqualify themselves?

I definitely want to say some thing about this. I'm adding a few notes here so I don't lose the thoughts that have occurred to me so far.

• mustn't become a coauthor.
• absolutely do not add facts; grey area for very straightforward updates. if there's composition involved, it's getting out of hand.
• when there's only one way to fix a problem; shades of grey around that.
• scale.
