Welcome edit
Jklin~enwikinews, welcome to Wikinews! Thank you for your contributions; I hope you like the place and decide to stay! If you haven't done so already, you may want to create an account.
Our key policies - if you read anything, read these!
- Wikinews:Neutral point of view - tell every side to a story in a fair and balanced way
- Wikinews:Cite sources - everything in a Wikinews article must be sourced
Here a few pointers to help you get to know Wikinews:
- Wikinews:Introduction - overview of the site
- Wikinews:Writing an article - how to write and publish a complete article
- Wikinews:Content guide - what's suitable for Wikinews
- Wikinews:Contents - the contents page.
There are always things to do on Wikinews:
- Existing articles need expanding and checking for spelling and mistakes
- The front page lead articles often need updating
- Developing stories need finishing and publishing
- Discussions need your input
- And of course, stories need writing!
By the way, you can sign your name on Talk pages using four tildes (~~~~), which produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, you can ask them at the water cooler or to anyone on the Welcommittee, or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome! Jason Safoutin 04:58, 7 April 2006 (UTC)
Baseball portal edit
Cool :) Orioles, erm, ( it's early :/ ) Edbrown05 04:14, 26 April 2006 (UTC)
- If you click the "Edit tab" for the Baseball portal, you will see the code that generates the page. Mostly I think, it's a matter of substituting Baseball for Football(American?), I think. -Edbrown05 04:49, 26 April 2006 (UTC)
- Yikes, I can't find the category for Football. -Edbrown05 04:52, 26 April 2006 (UTC)
- I found this, which could work as a template: Portal:Football. -Edbrown05 04:58, 26 April 2006 (UTC)
- But none of the portal code will work if the portal itself isn't (here's a word) instantiated, or in other words, created (hmm). -Edbrown05 05:05, 26 April 2006 (UTC)
- What words would you use to describe the portal? -Edbrown05 05:07, 26 April 2006 (UTC)
- Good job on the portal! If you can use that magic to create a category. There must have at one time been news stories that linked to the category of Football (American), because I was motivated to put that category up here. Try creating that Category is my suggestion. -Edbrown05 05:21, 26 April 2006 (UTC)
The trouble is, I don't know how to get at those templates at the bottom of portal pages that NGerda created to futher define the pages, so I don't know how to update them. -Edbrown05 05:45, 26 April 2006 (UTC)
- I like the naming convention, North American football. -Edbrown05 02:54, 27 April 2006 (UTC)
- Hmm (NFL Europe), it see your point. What's the most basic distinction between soccor and pigskin? Don't know. -Edbrown05 03:24, 27 April 2006 (UTC)
Hi! you listed this image as public domain, and linked to a clipart farm. I'm unable to locate this image in that clipart collection. If you can locate a link to the exact image on that site, great! otherwise this image will be deleted soon. - Amgine | talk en.WN 03:55, 6 May 2006 (UTC)
- Don't worry I found it. Bawolff ☺☻ 04:00, 6 May 2006 (UTC)
Your account will be renamed edit
Hello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called Jklin. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Jklin~enwikinews that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell
