Your username

edit

Howdy! Thanks for your contributions to Wikinews. It has been suggested that your username might be confusing to some people -- according to Wikinews:Username users are asked not to choose names which might confuse others. Please consider changing your username. In order to change usernames and not lose your edit history you may request a username change on Wikinews:Changing username. Please let me know if I can assist you in any way (or answer some questions).... --Chiacomo (talk) 05:10, 25 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

You might ask to have your username changed to 2I5 -- that looks like a great name! --Chiacomo (talk) 05:12, 25 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
I think it is a good user name. And it shows how arrongant some people can be when they think a new contributor is comming in. They assume I may be uploading a new article or a new photo for the first time. They assume!! You see in assume you have Ass U and Me! SO they make an ass of U and Me? The destroyers of new wikinews editors will have a bigger fish to fight once they realise I'm actually a shark. For example, just recently while adding a photo I for the recent Ottawa Earthquake that hit my town the photo was quickly delete. Go figure. Nice administrator. I believe that the deletion of the photo would have never occured had I had a different user name. The systematic bias from such user:mrmiscellanious at 04:23 hours, 25 february in the deletion log clearly shows that RESPECT is not an issue for this user. Reviewing wikinews policy doesn't seem to be important for him either. Violating my pride and my respect towards wikinews is actually something I can enjoy. That's because I now clearly know who my real friends are and I know who my Evil Enemies are. Thank Chiacomo for the word of advice. But the afformentioned reason is but one of many why I should keep my name! --2I5 05:25, 25 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
The image was not allowed on our servers under the fair use provision because of the modifications you made to it (alterations are not permitted under fair use provision, and the satellite images were copyrighted). --MrMiscellanious (talk) – 05:32, 25 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
I'm not concerned about the image -- I am concerned about the username. Please do request a change in username. I would suggest talking with MrM about the deletion. There have been discussion on various mailing lists about the inclusion of Google Earth images on various WMF projects -- there doesn't appear to be clear consensus on their inclusion. I would suggest grabbing the map from the USGS to illustrate the article -- that's definately a free image that can be used by anyone (including our content republishers), I think. --Chiacomo (talk) 05:30, 25 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
Eek! :s I think I need to go bed. hey! I was just following wikinews policy uploading a fair use image!!! That I edited. I actually got the idea from my local news broadcaster the A Chanel. They had the meterologist standing in front of a large google satelite picture. (they even left the logo there... which is the required according to google earth copyright policy! But anyway. I'm quite dissapointed about how an administrator can just come up and delete a photo like that without even thinking of talking to the uploader! Pretty fashist and dictaral if you ask me. I guess it's a good thing right? Anyway. I'll sleep on the name change and get back to you. The main reason I wanted user... etc... is because it matched my IP address. So I see no problem with me having this user name. I guess I could always edit with my IP and when I want to upload something I use some user name? As frustrated as I am about some other issues, and as counter productive I may seem to you right now, I really don't care. But as I said I'll sleep on it. And sorry if I'm rude to you today but that deletion thing just didn't help with my perspective of wikinews and lowered my respect and admiration of everyone here. Good night. And hopefully I'll be able to talk to you reasonably tomorow. Sorry. --2I5 05:44, 25 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
We're not supposed to host any copyrighted pictures without permission at any time, unless they can be assumed under the fair use policy. As I knew that modifications aren't, I recognized a copyvio and deleted it ASAP, ensuring there were no legal issues with the file. I was about to leave a message on your page when you made yours, so I chose to leave the small message above that I hope you would have understood. It seems that I was mistaken. --MrMiscellanious (talk) – 05:47, 25 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Multiple Image Upload

edit

The image has been refreshed on the server, you are seeing your computers' cached version of the image. Refreshing multiple times will eventually update the image. --MrMiscellanious (talk) – 06:15, 25 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

OH! darn. the last image:ThursoQuebec.png can probably be deleted. Sorry. Anyway, I uploaded the non edited version witch should comply with the fair use policy. --2I5 06:17, 25 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Howdy! I found a Public Domain image on the USGS site and popped it into the article. I deleted your fair use image, per your request. I also wrote Google a nice message asking them for permission to use their Google Earth images under, perhaps, a "Grant of license". I can see how Google Earth images might be very useful to Wikinews. Sorry for all the confusion and thanks for keeping your cool! Let me know if there's anything I can do to help you! --Chiacomo (talk) 06:38, 25 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thank you. I go up took a breather. Got back at it again with a level head. I think! :\ Anyway thank you guys for the lesson. I hope we get an answer from Google. I rember seeing some diferent info from their program copyright vs. their picture copyrights and the online vs the one in the program. Anyway. Thank you for the picture (it's not as nice as the google one but it's FREE! and that's what counts right!) (plus it's in the wikinews policy!) talk to you later. --2I5 06:46, 25 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

University protests

edit

Hi, 215, nice username :). There are lot's of protests in France and Spain at the moment against reforms of the educational system. I saw you enlisted as a translator for Spanish. Just yesterday, in Barcelona, police forces attacked pacific protestors. I think it would be worth to give this more attention. I leave you links to a video and the wikinews article in Spanish. I hope you can contribute to writing an article on the English wikipedia. 161.116.222.195 10:12, 19 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
