Here a few pointers to help you get to know Wikinews:

There are always things to do on Wikinews:

By the way, you can sign your name on Talk pages using four tildes (~~~~), which produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, you can ask them at the water cooler or to anyone on the Welcommittee, or ask me on my Talk page. Your username

edit

Hi 67-21-48-122... just letting you know that I've started a discussion about your username at Wikinews:Water_cooler/policy#Username_67-21-48-122. I'm worried that it is misleading because it looks like an IP address. Note that it is possible to change your username, and keep your edit history, etc. - Borofkin 01:12, 23 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

I definitely want to keep the name I've chosen. Before I decided to move a page, which requires registration, I was content just to be identified by my IP address, which, indeed, is 67.21.48.122 . Now, when I neglect to log in, the IP address still is displayed, of course.
I would strongly object to any new rule banning IDs resembling "dotted-four" decimal-notation IP addresses.
As it happens, I will likely be the only Wiki contributer at my present IP address for a long while — it's much like having a static address of my own. Not everyone has such a situation, of course.
Perhaps this will alleviate existing concerns.

It wouldn't be a new rule. If the community decides that your username is confusing or misleading, then it is already not permitted under the username guidelines. - Borofkin 01:54, 23 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Please choose another username, and request Cspurrier to rename your account. There is no consensus that your name is not confusing and misleading, which is the requirement of policy. - Amgine | talk en.WN

As I have asked on the Water cooler, please explain how your username does not confuse with, or mislead that your edits are from, an IP? - Amgine | talk en.WN 18:51, 3 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

thanks for the calendar

You're welcome. I would if they'd let me!
Avec ce nom, vouz devez parler la langue de Molière. I suppose somebody may complain about French on an English-language Wiki.

Yeah, that article is plenty long. Good job with fixing it up a bit. Thank you. (whoops, typing without looking) irid:t 19:39, 6 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your support

Your support on the Deletion Request was appreciated. Due to the controversy over the article, I have re-published it. If you can suggest another distribution of Linux to work on, I'd be more than happy to hear of it.

First, see this article through the current campaign to keep it from staying among the published articles of Wikinews. I think it's sad that detractors are delaying, and obviously discouraging, your moving on to such a future project. Which project, I think, should deal with the distribution having the most widespread deployment -- Fedora? Mandrake?
